Every aspect of Yuki Tabata’sBlack Cloverembodies the shonen spirits, except for the female characters, they are too cool compared to the embarrassing standard set by mainstream shonen series. Tabata has a wide cast of great characters, with unique traits and distinct appeal. Even among a cast that is studded with compelling characters, Mereleona Vermillion stands out as a pillar of strength.

Great female characters are truly a rarity in the anime-manga sphere, but seeing characters like Mereleona reinstates fans’ faith in female characters. Tabata deserves great praise for creating her. When the mangaka was asked about Mereleona and the process he went through to bring her to life, he had an interesting answer ready.
Mereleona Was A Result of Yuki Tabata’s Anger
From the moment she was introduced inBlack Clover, Mereleona has maintained a strong presence in the series. It’s hard for anyone to match her aura when she’s in a scene. Before her, we met her brother Fuegoleon, who had a calm demeanor but an air of menace surrounded him as well. He struck a balance between strength and humility, which made him quite likable.
Although worlds apart in personalities, Fuegoleon paled in comparison when Mereleona was first introduced, she instantly became a fan-favorite character and fans are still in awe of her. During an interview,Yuki Tabatawas asked about Mereleona’s character. The question was whether he used magic to create such a great character, and the mangakarevealed thatMereleona was a result of the negative emotions he felt.

Mereoleona is a character that has a lot of rage in her and that’s something that everyone has a little bit inside of them, right? And so do I. Sorry for being negative, but I think she was born when all my anger had built up and was finally released.
Whether it was magic or anger that went into the process, the final result we got was nothing short of magnificent. Out of all the characters inBlack Clover, Mereleona is extremely different. She isn’t attached to any of the materialistic achievements that drive the other Magic Knights. Despite having the necessary skills to reach the top, she shows indifference to the appeal of power.

The Clover Kingdom is divided by a rigid hierarchy and the different factions are always fighting it out to prove their superiority. However, Mereleona completely disregards that structure as she treats everyone in a similar manner.
Mereleona Said “Queen Behavior Only”!
Even though Mereleona is quite detached from the Clover Kingdom and spends her time training in nature, she always shows up in times of need. From helping the young Magic Knights train to acting as a leader during crucial times like the Spade Kingdom Arc, she is extremely reliable. Even contrarians like Yami don’t defy her.

Mereleona’s final fight in the series was an exhilarating spectacle. She enjoyed every moment of it and those following her reciprocated the same vigor as they fought alongside her. Instances like these in the manga are a testament to Mereleona’s authority and strength.
