Ewan Mitchell’s brothel scene inHouse of the DragonSeason 2 was one of the most talked-about topics among fans, but more important than his full-frontal n*dity was Aemond Targaryen’s inner thoughts during that time.

The actor revealed how he pulled off the scene and why Aemond decided to act in such a manner in front of his brother, King Aegon. The secret lies in a Robert De Niro movie that Mitchell used as inspiration.
Ewan Mitchell Dives Deep Into Aemond’s Psyche In Controversial Brothel Scene
During his interview withEsquire UK, actorEwan Mitchellbroke down the iconic scenes of Aemond Targaryen inHouse of the DragonSeason 2. While watching the brothel scene where his character was deeply humiliated byTom Glynn-Carney’s King Aegon, the 27-year-old star recalled how he used a Robert De Niro movie to his advantage.
There’s a line from Michael Mann’s Heat and Robert De Niro’s character says, “Never get attached to someone you’re not prepared to walk out on in 30 seconds flat when you feel the heat around the corner,” and that’s the code that Robert De Niro’s character uses that helps him maneuver his world without getting caught by the police.

This was very helpful for Mitchell in order to deliver that delicate scene that is true to Aemond’s nature. He said the one-eyed prince “has a very strict code that is similar that in part helps him to not get caught hurt like he did as a kid.” Fans would remember how his character was bullied in the past because he didn’t have a dragon.
The actor said that Aemond was able to easily walk out on Madame Sylvi because “he recognizes that in this moment he is caught completely vulnerable and humiliated by his brother.” This was the signal for him to turn on the switch. “You see that code come into play,” he added.

Mitchell saw that scene as an opportunity to give a rare glimpse into Aemond’s vulnerability. They thought about the character wrapping himself in a blanket but that would go against his own code. In the end, he walked out just like that because the whole point is that he doesn’t care and even in the face of humiliation, he wanted to retain his power.
Robert De Niro’s IconicHeatLine Explained
InMichael Mann’s 1995 movieHeat,Robert De Niroutters the same line, which Ewan Mitchell mentioned, toAl Pacino.
In thescene, De Niro’s Neil McCauley tells Pacino’s Lt. Vincent Hanna that he’s got a woman and she knows that he’s a salesman. The detective would ask, “So that if you spot me coming around that corner, you’re just gonna walk out on this woman, not say goodbye?” The master criminal would reply, “That’s the discipline.”

The quote basically proposes that one should not get attached to things or people that they are ready to drop or leave behind in the blink of an eye when the situation gets worse. The movie grossed over $187 million as perBox Office Mojoand it was even part ofRolling Stone’s The 100 Greatest Movies of the ‘90s.
