A few years ago, Masashi Kishimoto and Yoshihiro Togashi sat down together for an interview, where they also answered some fan questions about their creative process and other aspects ofNarutoandHunter x Hunter. Miyazaki is one of the legends in the anime industry and is known primarily for his works likeSpirited Away, The Boy and the Heron, Princess Mononoke, Howl’s Moving Castle, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and many more. The creator has won two Academy Awards in the Best Animated Feature category forSpirited AwayandThe Boy and the Heron.

Kishimoto stated:
“When I was in first grade, I drew a goldfish. I drew the folds in the goldfish’s tail as it moves. I thought that was normal, but a girl said it was really good. I still remember that.”
Kishimoto revealed that he found out that he could draw three-dimensional characters in first grade when he drew a goldfish with its tail moving. He even revealed that he submitted one of his posters for an exhibition, and he won some kind of cultural award. This led to him believing that he might actually be good at it, and that’s when he decided to make a career out of it.

WhileMasashi Kishimotowas sharing his childhood experiences, Togashi praised theNarutocreator for his exceptional skills as a manga creator. He appreciated his ability to draw three-dimensional characters in his magnum opus and pointed out that it is quite similar to Hayao Miyazaki’s ability to draw folds in cloth.
Togashi stated:
“You’re so good at that! Like the same level as Hayao Miyazaki drawing the folds in cloth!”
Most of the characters, fights, animations, etc. in anime series and movies are generally hand-drawn. Miyazaki is known fordrawing the key elements of his works, and that’s what makes the director of Studio Ghibli such a big name in the anime industry.
