One of Hollywood’s iconic romantic dramas, theBefore Sunrisetrilogy is a heart-warming tale of love, hope, and self-discovery. The first installment in the trilogy,Before Sunrise(1995) stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy in the lead roles. The pair made viewers swoon with their on-screen chemistry and tragic romance.
A behind-the-scenes scoop revealed that actress Julie Delpy was not convinced of a major scene in the movie. Co-star Ethan Hawke had to work hard to convince the actress going as far as to invent a pick-up line for the same. This was later incorporated into the plot of the movie, which became a fan favorite.

One of the major plotlines of the movieBefore Sunrise, includesEthan Hawke’s character Jesse and Celine played by Julie Delpy, getting off their train in Vienna. The characters were practically strangers and had different destinations in mind, so Delpy was not convinced.
The actress stated someone as practical as Celine would not get off her train mid-journey with a stranger. Hawke recognized her point but had to convince her since it was such an integral part of the movie. He asked how would she agree so Delpy told him to convince her character of the same.

It is then that Hawke invented this iconic pick-up line, incorporating it into the movie as Jesse convinces Celine to ditch the train. The romantic lines bewitched not only Celine but also the actress to agree to the plot line.

The movie went on to become one of the biggest successes of both the lead’s careers, spanning two more sequels. It is quite evident that the actors were very invested in the movie, especially Hawke. He was so sure of the plot that the actor made up a pick-up line on the spot to convince his co-star.
