Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass is easily the most popular gaming subscription service around. On February 16,Microsoft officially announcedwhich games would be joining Xbox Game Pass in the second half of February. There are some real gems coming this month, but out of the seven games coming to console and PC, which ones are worth diving into first?
7. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire (2018) - February 18
Pillars of Eternity IIis the sequel to its 2015 RPG developed by Obsidian Games. Both the originalPillars of Eternityand its successor received high praise from RPG fans, with some critics even stating thatPillars of Eternity IIis as close to a perfect RPG as you can get. However, some players have criticised the game’s combat and lacklustre story. If you’re a fan of RPG’s thenPillars of Eternity IIis definitely worth trying out and drawing your own conclusions about. 6. Elite Dangerous (2014) - February 25
This one might only appeal to those hardcore space flight simulation enthusiasts, but if you tick that box then Xbox Game Pass in February will be right up your alley. In this space simulation, players can explore a 1:1 scale open-world representation of the Milky Way Galaxy. Players are able to mine, trade, explore, bounty-hunt, and more to earn more money and merit. For those with access to Game Pass on PC, using a full HOTAS setup would be the way to go forElite Dangerous.
5. Wreckfest (2014) - February 18
Wreckfestis a racing video game developed by Bugbear entertainment. The demolition style inWreckfestwill leave you smiling ear to ear if you’re a fan of that sort of thing. Xbox has provided the perfect game to sit back, relax, and have some dumb fun with when you need it most. The game is a cross betweenFlatoutandDestruction Derby,so if you’ve enjoyed either of those two thenWreckfestis definitely worth playing.
4. Killer Queen Black (2019) - February 23
Killer Queen Blackis a fantastic little indie game, great for those that enjoy the competitive strategy platform genre. Developed by BumbleBear Games, the chaotic platformer can be played with up to eight friends. The art style has been improved upon from when the game was originally released in arcades.
3. Code Vein (2019) - February 18
Code Veinis an action-RPG developed by Bandai Namco Studios. The game has been compared to the popularDark Soulsseries. The RPG is set in a post-apocalyptic dystopian environment and is played from a third-person perspective. It’s tonnes of fun for fans of the RPG genre, and for those like me that are too scared to jump into the difficulty ofDark Souls, this could be right up your street.
2. Superhot: Mind Control Delete (2020) - February 25
Superhot: Mind Control Deleteis a beautifully executed first-person shooter. It’s actually a standalone expansion for the originalSuperhotand doesn’t require the main game to play. However, if you’re looking for an FPS game that’s full of soul and artistic gameplay, it might be worth picking up the originalSuperhotbefore delving into the expansion.
1. Dirt 5 (2020) - February 25
Dirt 5is a racing game developed by Codemasters. The triple-A title is the headliner for Xbox Game Pass in February. The fifth instalment in theDirtseries is much more of an arcade racing game, unlike its predecessors that are more racing simulators. The game lacks customisation options but is a must-play for anyone interested in racing games. After only launching in November of 2020, fans are getting a great deal again with Xbox Game Pass this month.Dirt 5has also been fully optimised for the new Xbox Series X and S.
