Xbox Achievements have been a major part of the gaming experience on the Xbox consoles and Microsoft always looks to improve it. Xbox Achievements have always been compared with PlayStation’s trophies, and Microsoft has had several issues with the achievement system.

The company recently brought a patch to fix these issues. There were also rumors that the company has been looking to bring changes to its achievement system, and a new report now reveals that the system might see a complete overhaul sometime in 2024.
New Report Suggests Xbox Achievements Overhaul Is Coming This Year
There had been reports that the Xbox Achievement system would be getting a massive overhaul with possible elements like “platinum achievements,” but there was no potential release window. A new report from XboxEra Podcast’s Shpeshal Nick suggests that the changes are nearly completed and might be coming this year.
In the latest episode ofXboxEra Podcasttitled“2023 Year in Review,”Nick discussed several things about Xbox including the achievements and how players can expect to hear about the changes soon. Nick stated:

What I’m hearing is that Xbox is nearly done with their achievement overhaul, with changes to achievements, and we should be seeing it next year.
When they say next year I’m assuming they’re aware of the fact that it’s New Years Eve, so I guess they mean 2024.

But we should be, at the very least, being shown it, because you know how they sometimes put stuff in beta and then it goes through different rings.
However, he did not specify what changes or new features will be coming with the overhaul and what players can expect. Fans have been asking for Diamond or Platinum achievements for 100% completion of games, the ability to pin rarest or favorite achievements on their player profiles, an improvement tracking system for in-game achievements, separate achievements for DLC and main base, the ability to report bugs and issues in the achievement system, and much more.

Players are also expecting medals and probably TrueAchievements integration which is a stretch. However, it would be a great addition to the system where players could get to see their ranks in their region and the world overall. Players are also looking for badges at certain milestones. Since all this is a mere speculation as of now, players are advised to take it with a grain of salt.
This news comes after Xbox head, Phil Spencer, seemingly confirmed that changes will be coming to Xbox Achievements. In an interview withWindows Central, Spencer stated that the achievement system is one of the things that the company wants to improve and it knows that many care about it. This year seems to be stacked up for Xbox with several exclusives, and the company seems to want to make sure nothing comes between the experience that it delivers to the players.

He also mentioned that he wants players to know that Xbox is growing and is committed to them. Judging from Spencer’s comments, it seems like the work on the achievement system was already underway and should be finished in some time. He also revealed that the company has no plans to bring Game Pass to Nintendo or PlayStation, in contrast to previous reports.
There have also been reports in the past year that Microsoft Rewards will be shutting down on Xbox soon, and will be moving to a new Rewards Hub to streamline the rewards experience.
The company has been putting a lot of effort into improving the current achievement system to bring it equivalent to PlayStation’s trophies. Basically it would be something players could look forward to when they complete tasks, and while it has taken a lot of time, hopefully it will be something worth the while.
