Once you’ve conquered the majority of Cloudspire after beating the likes of theMing Generaland are close to wrapping up the inner portion of the city, you’ll eventually come face-to-face with the Perfect Bride boss fight inWuchang: Fallen Feathers.

On the surface, she’s a boss that seems relatively familiar with otherskill-based boss fightsthat you’ve fought so far in the game, like Commander Honglan, and she might put you in a pickle with her erratic moveset, especially with her monstrous twist.

8 Best Soulslikes Where Grinding is Fun

Ah grinding…the escapist passion of a soulslike player.

To make the burden of fighting her easier on you, I’ve prepared a strategy guide onhow to beat the Perfect Bride in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, which should hopefully help you defeat her and her beastly twist easily.

Where To Find The Perfect Bride

Unlike the rest of the bosses that we’ve uncovered and shed light on regarding their whereabouts, the Perfect Bride is a boss fight that you may find pretty easily since she’s the final boss you’ll encounter in the Cloudspire region.

you’re able to fight the Perfect Bride at the end of the Bride’s Boudoir section, accessible once you’ve gotten past the perilous underground of the Shaft. And the latter area, of course, is unlocked right after you’ve beaten theMistress of the Night.

brides boudoir

You’ll know you’re at the boss once you exit back to a connecting bridge with an enemy on the other side, shown above. Still, before you dive straight in, I strongly advise grabbing the conveniently placed elevator right next to that bridge.

This elevator is a shortcut that takes you straight back to the Shaft Entrance shrine. So you won’t have to make a tedious runback in case you die in this boss fight—unless you miraculously defeat it on the first try, like my co-workers.

Best Build For The Perfect Bride

I’ll be quick here since it comes down to your playstyle, but with how much of an erratic moveset Fang Ling has in her first phase, Iwent with the Longsword here, especially when we’re going to take advantage of the Sword Counter skill on it.

However, to reiterate, it’s your choice; even the dual blades can work fine here. The main component that’ll be putting the work in for this fight is theoverpowered Ethereal Form spell, found in the Zhenwu Temple. The auto-dodging effect is ridiculously good—it trivializes the latter boss fights.

Temperance Needle

Bone Needle - Poise Break/Flame

It’s not a cheese tactic by any means, but it does make the fight easier. For Benedictions and Pendants,I opted for any that provided me with or aided in stamina recovery.

Even for Wuchang’s stats, my build is centered around giving her more stamina, since we need it in high abundance to manage the attack output and Ethereal Form’s evasions.

temperance

Lastly, for the Temperance, it’s useful to have the skill node that gives you two usage charges, and for the Bone Needle itself, the default fire buff works nicely, but I went with the one that increases Poise Break damage, also unlockable from the skill tree.

Perfect Bride Moveset

Although we’ll be taking complete advantage of the Ethereal Form spell and its auto-evasive maneuvers, it’s still imperative that you know about the major attacks in the Perfect Bride’s arsenal to deflect them as well as dodge its monstrous form’s moveset.

Description

Perfect Bride

Hangtime Blasts

An attack that the Perfect Bride will likely do as the fight begins or when she’s at range. She suspends herself in the air and throws out four seeking blasts at you before jumping down. If quick, you can land a charged heavy backstab to then unleash an Obliterate Strike.

Pinwheel Slashes

A quick move where Fang Ling will dish out two diagonal spinning slashes. These can be tricky to deflect and can quickly build up the posture breakage bar. attempt to step dodge to the side to avoid them.

4-hit Combo

Fang Ling will dish out two upward slashes followed by a horizontal one before (possibly) finishing it off with a thrust from her sword. I strongly suggest deflecting the slashes via the aforementioned Sword Counter skill to interrupt the attack sequence.

Spinning Slash

Fang Ling will briefly hop and do two 360-degree slashes around her, which can be easily evaded if you’re already at a distance.

Charging Thrust

Suppose you’re familiar with my guide on Commander Honglan. In that case, you’ll already know how this kind of attack can be easily telegraphed and punished to land a backstab-charged attack. She’ll do this charged thrust with her glowing left arm.

Multi-thrusts

Fang Ling will quickly charge up and unleash a series of thrust attacks at close range that can quickly close in on you with their repeating loop. Luckily, with Sword Counter, you can easily deflect and interrupt it.

Parasite Shriek

The parasite on the back of Fang Ling will quickly let out a scream, and if caught within it, you’ll be momentarily stunned. Back away to dodge, or with Ethereal Form active, you’ll be able to auto-evade it perfectly.

Parasite Laser

That fiendish parasite on the back will occasionally fire a laser through the ground in a straight direction, another fairly telegraphed attack that you can dodge.

Monstrous Shriek

The Chimera’s starting move for her fight. Much like the parasite shriek, it will let out one of its own with a more intense velocity. If you perfectly dodge it yourself or with Ethereal Form, it can be a quick way to squeeze in some damage there.

Trifecta Charges

A notable move from the Chimera where it will rush you down three times in a row before jumping out of position. They have a fast animation, but are easily evadable if you hit the timing window precisely.

Biting combo

The Chimera monster will attempt to lunge and bite at you four times in a row. An annoying attack to avoid hits from due to its close-range nature, but evadable by dodging to the backside.

Meteor Shower

Midway through the fight, the Chimera frantically fires a laser and rains down fiery boulders from above. Pretty easy to avoid completely, especially if you’re far away.

Bursting Spew

The Chimera spews out a fiery trail in front of it that explodes shortly after. It can be completely avoided and punished by dodging and staying to the side of the Chimera.

360 Laser spin / Explosion

In one move, the Chmiera performs a full 360-degree sweeping laser on the ground that explodes along the trail. In the other laser move, the Chimera frantically goes back and forth between the homing laser. Both moves can be punished easily if you’re skillful with the evasions against the lasers.

How To Beat The Perfect Bride

First Phase

Even if you don’t have the Ethereal Form spell or don’t want to go out of your way to get it, I assure you that the majority of the first phase can be breezily sped through if you manage to nail down her moveset and successfully deflect the attack strings.

Most importantly, the best strategy to defeat the Perfect Bride portion of Fang Ling is to go for Obliterate Strikes via charged heavy backstabs.

Luckily for us, the majority of her moves can open up opportunities for you to do just so, as I’ve demonstrated above in the video clip.

If you’ve got a Temperance buff active for your weapon, you may even apply a status effect on Fang Ling to help increase your overall damage output.

Due to Fang Ling’s multi-hit attacks using her dual-handed swords, it can be tricky to heal amidst the fight, so try to take your time here and don’t get greedy with your attacks. And obviously, look for opportunities to punish her sword thrust moves whenever possible.

Second Phase

You know a boss fight is special when you get an entirely new health bar for its second phase.Well, minus the fact that Fang Ling has now turned into a ferocious abomination, just be ready for an onslaught of new attacks.

The Sword Counter skill strategy gets thrown out the window here since you can’t really deflect the Chimera’s attacks. You’ll either need to rely on getting your evasions right or spam Ethereal Form to help you auto-dodge moves and squeeze one or two hits between each dodge.

I’ll be honest here; aside from the rushing attacks it can unleash three times in a row, most of the moveset from the Chimera aren’t that difficult to avoid, especially the ones that require you to create distance from it, such as the meteor shower, as shown above.

Those bite lunges might get on your nerves, but besides that, I had no huge problems dodging her attacks even when I forgot to consecutively activate Ethereal Form.Just manage your stamina well and be aware of its claw-swiping attacks at close range.

Those laser attacks can be deadly, but they have a very tight hitbox. If you can get behind it when it’s doing that, you can open up some big damage, especially if you’re using the Lashing Whip Longsword’s weapon skill, where it damages enemies like a chainblade.
