Pokemon Legends Arceusfeatures a mission structure that requires you to complete various tasks, with The Sea’s Legend mission specifically asking you to find the Mythical Manaphy.
Manaphy is definitely one of the more interesting Pokemon in the series as a Mythical and its relationship with Phione that is really unlike any other.
Interestingly enough, there were seeds planted in regards to this mission inPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, which shows some synergy between the Game Freak developedPokemon Legends Arceusand its counterpart by ILCA.
Who Are Manaphy and Phione?
There are plenty of Pokemon out there with evolutions, but the relationship between Manaphy and Phione is one of the most interesting in the series.
Manaphy was first introduced in Gen IV as a Water type Mythical Pokemon with no evolution or pre-evolution. However, something interesting happens when you breed Manaphy with Ditto and it isn’t hatching another Manaphy.
Instead, breeding Manaphy with Ditto will lead to an egg that holds the Water type Phione. Even though it comes from breeding the Manaphy, Phione cannot evolve into Manaphy at all. This is a very uncommon situation in the Pokemon games and makes them all the more unique.
Where To Find Manaphy for The Sea’s Legend
Finding a Manaphy is going to become very important when you have access to mission #66 known as The Sea’s Legend, which says “Solve the mystery of the ‘The Sea’s Legend,’ and catch the Pokemon that Professor Laventon saw.”
As mentioned above, this mission was actually teased in the recentPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, which had a book about Manaphy titled “The Sea’s Legend” within the Canaclave City library that teased how to obtain one.
To get a Manaphy, you will need to first obtain three specific Pokemon, which are Buizel, Mantyke, and the new Hisuian evolution of Qwilfish known as Overqwil.
After catching all three Pokemon, head to the Cobalt Coastlands at night and head out into the water in-between the two giant spiky rocks in the water. Upon sailing through the rocks, you will trigger something that says a cry was heard in the distance.
This unlocks what is known as Seaside Hollow nearby, which can be found on the north side of the landmass in Cobalt Coastlands. Once this happens, head towards that and make sure that you enter the correct area.
Within Seaside Hollow will be three Phione and one Manaphy, all of which can be battled and caught. The Phione will be between levels 34-36 and Manaphy will be level 50, so prepare yourself accordingly.
Once you have successfully captured at least Manaphy, but preferably all four, you can head out and consider this mission complete.
