Derek Stephen Prince, who voices Uryu Ishida, was excited for the sequel. The voice actor revealed his surprise at the series’ return. This makes sense considering the events that led to the rushed ending. The declining popularity and mangaka’s health were attributed to that. However, the sequel is a complete upgrade in every sense.

Bleach VA shared his thoughts regarding the series’ sequel

Bleachis one of the most celebrated and loved anime among the big three of Shonen. Despite being the weakest it reigns supreme, notably, in its character-building. It also sets itself apart from other series through its exploration ofcomplex themes. From death and loss to gore and violence, it outclasses its contemporaries. It faced a major decline albeit its popularity as Jump’s Big 3.

Tite Kubo’sdeteriorating health was a reason behind the hiatus. This is true considering the overworking andbrutal serializationof the manga. Competition and hustle are common in the mangaka industry. However, in the last decade or so, people have been aware of the brutal conditions. When the series made its return in 2022, it surprised fans, especially this voice actor.

In an interview withAnime Corner, Derek Stephen Prince opened up about the sequel’s premiere. He quoted:

It was actually really, really cool. We were not expecting to come back. The last time many of us had any touch with the franchise was when some of us got asked to do a live action version. But after that, we thought, “Okay, well, that’s it. It’s over.” When the story started surfacing up that Tite Kubo was coming back to finish what he started, I think we were all excited, obviously, because, yay, it’s another job. But I think, by and far, the fans were probably ecstatic beyond belief to finally get what they had always been talking about ever since the last part of the story had finished.
