Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Games’ action-adventure titleSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueis all set to launch on July 07, 2025. The game is said to be Warner Brothers’ most ambitious title ever and while the developer promises an exciting adventure with the game, players are still worried that it might not live up to the expectations.
Fans of theArkhamversefranchise have been hoping for another Batman: Arkham game from Rocksteady afterKill the Justice Leaguebut according to Design Director Johnny Armstrong, they might want to limit their expectations as the developer currently wants to focus onSuicide Squad.
Rocksteady Studios Is Currently Focused On Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Kill the Justice Leaguewill see players play as members of Task Force X namely Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark to go up against iconic Justice League superheroes like Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, and the Flash, whose minds are corrupted by Brainiac.
Batman’s fate inArkham Knightwas left ambiguous but it seemed like he faked his death and went into hiding. The Caped Crusader is making a major return for the first time in the upcoming game afterArkham Knightand fans have been speculating that it might lead to another mainlineArkhamentry. However, associate design director Johnny Armstrong has advised players to not get their hopes up.
In a conversation withGamesRadar, Johnny Armstrong addressed the possibility of a new game in theArkhamverseand said that the game’s title is not just for the show and Rocksteady Studios currently wants to focus on the upcoming game. He stated:
I mean, we’re really enjoying working on a Suicide Squad now. But I can assure you that, as the title says, we do really kill the Justice League. So…
It can not be taken as a confirmation that theArkhamversewill end after the launch ofKill the Justice Leagueas there have been several rumors that the developer wants to continue the franchise and even that it wants to reboot it but there has been no official news regarding any of this from Rocksteady. Furthermore, it might mean that this might be the last Rocksteady game that involves Batman as the league will be dying but that still seems too far-fetched.
Armstrong also added that the game features frantic gameplay and an immersive narrative that will see casual gamers come for the story of the game but they will stick around for the gameplay. He further mentioned that hardcore players will come for the gameplay and will be impressed by both story and gameplay and there is enough in the game to cater to all kinds of players.
Rocksteady’s Product Director Darius Sadeghian also said recently that the game mixes both story and gameplay for an incredible gaming experience and backed the game’s live-service format saying that the game has the same DNA as theArkhamgames. It remains to be seen how true this is when the game releases next month and it’s still a mystery howArkhamseries goes from here.
Another member of the development team has previously stated that the game will be full of easter eggs with several references and some that might hint at future games just like there were many easter eggs inArkhamversewhich weren’t discovered for months after the game’s release.
However, the studio is currently only focused on the game and how it can pull off some miracle for the game to be successful as the game has been surrounded with controversies ever since it was announced four years back. The recent controversies include Poison Ivy and her being a child character in the game and why Brainiac looks different from its comic counterpart.
