Zack Snyder is a man who needs no introduction. Considered to be one of the best filmmakers of this generation, with several great projects in the past like300, Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, and many more. However, the filmmaker has found himself in tricky waters as his recent film,Rebel Moon,a Netflix Original, was all set to add to his collection of box office hits but failed to convince its audience to do so.

Upon release, the sci-fi film was not universally acclaimed as it got slammed by the critics as well as received humiliating reviews from the viewers of the film. Snyder’s passion project was meant to be a rival of the evergreen franchise,Star Wars. But it now looks like Snyder needs a miracle in his favor to convince the streaming giants to give a green signal for his pre-planned 6Rebel Moonfilms.
Zack Snyder Needs A Miracle To Convince Netflix Of His 6Rebel MoonFilms After Box Office Disaster
Zack Snydermade an ardent effort to bring forth his R-ratedStar Warsproject to be the next big thing, which has been solely developed by Netflix, and even the filmmaker hoped that hisRebel Moonwould be a direct competitor and as big of a franchise likeGeorge Lucas’Star Wars.
Despite the first film failing to blow away the minds of the critics and viewers, the filmmaker ardently believes this opinion would be changed once he comes up with the six films, narrating the story of Kora, a mysterious woman seeking warriors to against the tyrannical Regent Balisarius and his army.

“So we talked to him… and he was like, ‘Yeah, that sounds fun'”: How Zack Snyder Convinced Marvel Star to Play Everyone’s Favorite Rebel Moon Character
Recently, Snyder talked toRadioTimes.com, where he shared that“four or six movies”would make sense as it is not every day that they come up with a new sci-fi franchise. He said,
“I guess four makes sense. Four or six movies, depending… I guess it’s whether or not every time we make one of these movies we make two, that’s the question. We were talking about it the other day and I was like, would an audience be disappointed if they only got one movie now from Rebel Moon? Would they be like, ‘Oh, it’s one now? Great.'”

The300filmmaker added that the 2nd part of the film has been approved by the OTT platform, but not the third film. He states that everyone wants the story to be set and they are doing all the necessary work.
“We absolutely have the story all set, we did all that work. We wrote a treatment for the movie so we’ll see how we go ahead.”

However, Snyder would need thesequel to make a positive impact on the viewers and the critics, or else the franchise might get canceled; as the streaming platform has decided to focus more on quality than quantity.
Netflix’s New Policy Puts Snyder’sRebel Moon’sFuture in Jeopardy
“We were growing a new studio. We’d only been doing this for a few years, and we were up against 100-year-old companies So you have to ask yourself, ‘What is your business model?’ And for a while, it was just making sure that we had enough. We needed volume.”
The esteemed news organization reports that the OTT platform has shifted its content strategy and“opted to take fewer bets,”by cutting back on its roughly 50 films per year to around 25-30. Stuber also mentioned that they aren’t trying to hit a specific number annually as they want projects that they can proudly say are theirs. He said,

“Right now, we’re not trying to hit a set number of film releases. It’s about ‘Let’s make what we believe in. And let’s actually put forth a slate that we can stand behind and say, ‘This is the best version of a romantic comedy. This is the best version of a thriller. This is the best version of a drama.'”
This new policy means bad news to Snyder because even though the executives of the platform has immense faith in the filmmaker, they will not let poor projects affect their reputation. Hence, the filmmaker must give it all in the sequel of his sci-fi project to continue with his 4 other films.
