Weapon Attributes Glossary
Warhammer 40K: Darktidefeatures dozens of weapons to choose from and even though there are a lot of similarities between some of them, you can still expect plenty of variety for every class. The game does a good job of gradually introducing players to its plethora of weapons, however, it’s still easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices. Hence, why we figured a Darktide weapons database such as this would come in handy.

To make things easier to keep track of, we went ahead and sorted all the weapons by type while also neatly listing their attributes and class requirements. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with weapon attributes because they will also be explained later on.
Ranged weapons allow players to engage the minions of Nurgle from afar and come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Whether you’re looking for traditional ballistic weapons, laser-powered rifles, or 40K staples like the Boltgun or the Flamer, you’re sure to find the perfect killing implement in Darktide.

Autoguns are highly versatile and work more or less like regular ballistic rifles. Some of them are fully automatic and are used to mow down hordes of small enemies, others offer burst fire and are great for taking out high-value targets, and there’s even a sniper variant in there for dealing with the big boys.

These laser-powered weapons are just as versatile as the Autoguns, but they look and sound appropriately futuristic. There aren’t big differences between the two categories of weapons in terms of raw functionality, so choosing one over the other is mostly a matter of personal preference. Lasguns are typically associated with the Imperial Guard in 40K lore, hence why theVeteran Sharpshootergets access to more of them than the other classes.

There are very few pistols in Warhammer 40K: Darktide and all of them are unlocked at low levels. Pistols are early-game weapons that quickly become obsolete as soon as you start getting your hands on bigger guns. Generally speaking, there’s no reason to use a pistol when are there much better ranged weapons in the game.

There are only a couple of shotguns available in Darktide, but they’re both quite powerful. Shotguns are close-range weapons that can obliterate multiple enemies with every shot and are particularly effective when fighting in tight quarters. They’re not too shabby against monstrosities and bosses either.

Lorenz MK V Kickback

A Ripper gun is a special type of weapon available only to theOgryn Skullbreakerclass. These weapons can best be described as a mix between a burst-fire shotgun and a semi-automatic machine gun. This rather unusual combo gives Ogryns plenty of firepower and versatility packed neatly into a single package. As an added bonus, Ripper guns come equipped with a bayonet that does quite a lot of damage to unarmored enemies.

A Force Staff acts like a conduit for a Psyker’s powers and can be used to blast enemies with various elemental effects, such as fire, lightning, and void energy. In essence, it’s just the 40K equivalent of a magical staff. While thePsyker Psykineticclass can use many different ranged weapons, Force Staves are the only ones that complement their innate magical…erm… I mean, Warp powers.

Melee weapons often feel unsatisfying in FPS games, but that’s definitely not the case here. Quite the contrary. Melee combat in Warhammer 40K: Darktide feels meaty, visceral, and just overall perfect for a game set in the grim darkness of the far future. Whether you prefer using swords, axes, or more exotic weapons like a Thunder Hammer, you won’t be disappointed by what Darktide has to offer in terms of melee weapons.
It’s a bit hard to believe that people would still be using axes in the 41st Millenium, but hey, whatever gets the job done, right? Axes are pretty devastating in the hands of aZealot Preacher, but a couple of the other classes can use them as well, albeit more as backup weapons.

Warhammer 40K: Darktide offers a myriad of bladed weapons to choose from. As one might expect, most of them are swords, but there’s also a sizable knife and a particularly sharp shovel that can be considered bladed weapons. As far as the swords themselves are concerned, they range from fairly generic ones like the Devil Claws to highly anachronistic ones like dueling sabers to specialized ones like the Psyker-exclusive Force Sword.

Chain weapons are synonymous with Warhammer 40K so, of course, there needed to be at least a few of them in Darktide. Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of options here, but every one of these weapons is incredibly satisfying to use. If it’s a power trip you’re looking for, grab yourself a chain weapon and show those heretics the meaning of righteous zeal. For the Emperor!

Cadia Mk IV Assault Chainsword

Tigrus Mk II Heavy Eviscerator

Power weapons are another iconic staple of 40K. Just between you and me, it doesn’t really make sense that a bunch of no-good Rejects can use some of the rarest and most coveted weapons in the Imperium, but it’s easy to forgive those types of inaccuracies if they help make the game more fun. And, at least in this case, they definitely do. In fact, there are few things more satisfying than charging up a power weapon and blasting enemies to smithereens.

Ogryns are very special (in more ways than one) and they deserve to have access to equally special melee weapons that nobody else can use. Or rather, that nobody elsewantsto use. These oversized weapons would be far too unwieldy for a regular human, but they’re just the right size for an Ogryn Skullbreaker.
