What Happened Previously On Vinland Saga?
In the past, a slave who worked at Kjallakr’s farm on Ketil’s estate killed his master and his sons and set fire to the farmhouse before escaping. On the other hand, Thorfinn asked Einer if he had decided what he wanted to become. However, the latter was unsure but said that he knew he had a chance to free Arnheid. Despite being wounded, the slave searched for his wife. Meanwhile, Einar contemplated his future with Arnheid at Sverkel’s farm. Later, Sverkel collapsed in the field and was taken care of by Arnheid, assigned by the mistress of Ketil’s farm.
Following on three days later, Fox apprised Snake of the escaped slave and was offered three horses as a reward for catching him. Snake advised exercising caution if they happened to discover him. Later, in the forest, Fox, Badger, and Lizard located the runaway slave, but their squabble over the reward provoked the slave to attack them, resulting in Lizard’s death and Badger’s injury.
Later, Thorfinn listened in as Snake read a biblical passage to a bedridden and dying Sverkel, which urged one to love their enemies. Their discussion was interrupted by the sudden appearance of the escaped slave, who was being pursued by Fox and Badger while riding a horse he had stolen. In the meantime, Arnheid identified the fleeing slave as her husband, Gardar. Snake quickly moved to retrieve his sword.
