Dragon Ball Superhas been on an indefinite hiatus for the longest time and the reason for this is more than understandable. Ever since Akira Toriyama’s passing, the franchise has taken a hit after the unexpected tragedy. For the many decades thatDragon Ball’sstory has continued, there have been constant developments that help it grow more and more, through characters and through the plot.

Goku started as the primary protagonist of the series but also made room for Vegeta eventually. While the Saiyan prince never got to take the spotlight properly for himself, there have been many moments that showcased his potential as a probable protagonist capable of replacing the most iconic Shonen hero. While with each ending arc, Goku is always the one to properly defeat the antagonists,Supercould change it all.
Dragon Ball Super Can Give Vegeta His Spotlight
In a theory by@fakevilgax on Reddit, the idea is brought forward that Goku’s reign as the protagonist would be not as overshadowing as those around him. Despite Vegeta having been his ally for the longest time, even posing as a secondary protagonist, the moment to shine never truly gets to its fullest level because it is always Goku who gets to defeat the enemies once and for all no matter the arc.
According to the pattern ofDragon Ball,Goku becoming the guy who gets the last punch is always the case, which isn’t anything out of the ordinary seeing that he is the main character. However, Vegeta has always been a formidable protagonist with immense potential. In fact, he has the possibility to do something even Goku cannot.

“Make it an exclusive form for Broly”: One Critically Underrated Super Saiyan Form Akira Toriyama Abandoned is the Perfect Power Upgrade for Broly in Dragon Ball Super
Out of all the villains in the series, Frieza has always been the most menacing and evil of them. He also has the advantage of making more appearances in the series as compared to any other antagonist. Despite having died already, he was brought back byAkira Toriyama. He is perfectly set-up as the final villain, one that could face Vegeta at the very end.
The Best of Both Worlds
Goku has always been a pure-hearted person, unable to kill anyone. However, the same cannot be said for Vegeta. Despite having redeemed himself many times over, his cunning and pride have always remained constant, adding to the fact that he does not have a no-kill rule. Were Frieza to come back, he alone would be capable of killing him and not Goku.
Moreover, with Ultra Ego originating from Destruction Energy, there is a more than likely chance for Vegeta to become the next God of Destruction after Beerus. Also, there is a strong chance that both the manga and the anime have different endings. This would satisfy fans who want to see both Goku and Vegeta move forward and grow.

“It isn’t good to insert too much narration”: The Dragon Ball Character Akira Toriyama Admitted He Created Just to Couple With Goku – It’s Not Vegeta
It would be more impactful following Toriyama’s demise because of how vividly these two characters personify his legacy. Vegeta getting established as the new God of Destruction would give him a new purpose and also the opportunity to get out of Goku’s shadow, one that he is more than capable of doing.
Dragon Ballis available to watch on Crunchyroll.
