Valvehas released a brand-new update forTeam Fortress 2this week, featuring a plethora of bug fixes, 10 new community maps, new taunts, new effects, and more.
Over the last few months, Valve has come under fire from the Team Fortress 2 community for its handling of the game’s cheaters situation. The free-to-play shooter was being called unplayable by the game’s community and evensparked a petition known as “SaveTF2.“After receiving over 300,000 signatures, Valve quietly began addressing the problem but still refused to release a statement on the matter.

Things were only made worse when Valve opted to collaborate with the upcoming Funko Pop game,Funko Fusion. Fanssaid the collaboration was “deeply insulting,“while some even speculated that Valve only started to ban cheaters so that it could collaborate with Funko Fusion and receive less backlash.
But things seem to have taken a more positive turn this week as fans are praising the massive new Summer update for Team Fortress 2. Despite being 17 years old, Valve has deployed dozens of new bug fixes, added a brand-new Summer event, and included plenty of new community-made content for players to check out.
Over on Reddit, fans were praising multiple aspects of the update. “New medieval mode map we are so back,“one usersaid. While another user couldn’t quite believe how many bug fixes were included in the update: “wtf literally like 2 pages of bug fixes,“the usersaid. And the love for the update doesn’t just top there,another usersaid: “Holy fuck, this update actually has a lot of stuff I’ve wanted for a while.”
However, there were still plenty of users reminding the community that it is still boycotting the game. “Don’t forget about the boycott,do notbuy anything. If Valve can only hear wallets, make sure they get the message,” acommunity memberstated. Others simply said to “keep protesting,” and “Remember, don’t buy ANYTHING.”
