Valvehas quietly changed the wording of a recentblog post, suggesting that an upcoming update forTeam Fortress 2will no longer be as big as anticipated.
Last week, itwas reportedthat Team Fortress 2 would be receiving a “full-on update-sized update,” according to Valve themselves. No release date for the update was set, but the blog post in question stated, “the last few Team Fortress summer events have only been item updates. Butthisyear, we’re planning on shipping a full-on update-sized update — with items, maps, taunts, unusual effects, war paints and who knows what else?!”

Valve has now changed the wording of the above paragraph, replacing “a full-on update-sized update” with “a full-on holiday-sized update.” The change in wording suggest the upcoming update will be more in line with previous updates, and not quite as big as fans had originally anticipated.
Also changed in the blog post was the phrase “and who knows what else?!”, which now reads, “and other community-contributed fixes for the game!” It appears as though Valve had changed the wording as many believed the phrase “and who knows what else” suggested that content made directly from Valve was going to be included in the update. The post is now clear that all content featured in the update will be directly from the Steam workshop community.
This appears to have been nothing more than a poor wording choice from Valve, with much of the community expecting a larger-scale update following the phrase “a full-on update-sized update.” Although the rewording is sure to have disappointed Team Fortress 2 players around the world, it’s clear that Valve never actually intended to release such a notable update.
Team Fortress 2 continues to be supported by Valve in terms of bug fix updates, despite now being 16 years old. The last major content update to be released for Team Fortress 2 was back in 2017, and it appears as though this year’s content update will once again be directly from the community instead of Valve itself.
