Bleachis often met with the criticism of it being a weak series. Rather, it is an uncrowned king among the big three. In most aspects, Tite Kubo’s magnum opus outclasses other shonen series. This is especially true with its compelling themes and stunning visuals. However, it took several painstaking efforts by the mangaka to avoid a huge blunder. This included breaking his own rule.

Unlike the previous anime, Kubo made sure that the sequel wouldn’t mess up. In ensuring authenticity and faithful adaptation, his involvement in the process was pivotal. By doing so, the mangaka went against his morals and rules. This paid off compared to his previous series which suffered an unsavory and indelible closure.

Tite Kubois a seasoned stalwart known for his contributions to the shonen genre. Some of his notable works areZombiepowderandBurnthe Witch. Though mostly he is known for his magnum opus.
The mangaka made his comeback almost after a ten-year hiatus. When the series ended in 2002, most fans were in disbelief. With the rushed plot and haphazard ending, it turned out to be disastrous. To say the least, Kubo isn’t the one to repeat his mistake.

The mangaka fought tooth and nail to ensure things went smoothly. This is especially true in recent times. In the age of botched adaptations, more mangaka are stepping forward with their involvement.
Needless to say, Kubo wasn’t too far behind. His zeal to achieve the lost glory of his magnum opus was reflected in his involvement. Especially when it comes toThousand Year Blood War’sadaptation. In doing so, the mangaka broke his own rule and went against his morals.

In an interview withViz, Kubo revealed how he broke his morals. He quoted:
I think it’s safe to say that I’m involved in every step of the process. Let’s see… Usually, I’m not one for sticking my nose too far into other adaptations. It kind of feels like I’m taking jobs away from their side. But this time around, I think my involvement, my input will contribute to the fans’ enjoyment, so I’m helping out wherever possible.

In all honesty, his involvement paid off. With the series’ high ratings and positive reception, the franchise is retaining its glory. From IMDb ratings to Rotten Tomatoes score, Kubo’s series is regaining its momentum. This does stand in contrast with the original series’ indelible closure.
Bleachand its indelible closure
From its premiere to its progression,Bleachremains an iconic series in many aspects. The series’ central focus on death is novel and unique. Contrary to other Shonen series, Kubo’s magnum opus dealt with mature themes. This is especially true with the concepts of death and insanity. The series’ ending, however, remains indelible due to its haphazard nature. And there’s more to it.
From rushed plot to pacing to fillers, the original series wasn’t exempt from relentless criticism. This, however, extended to the series’ ending. In terms of its fillers and inconclusive closure, the original anime scarred viewers. And not in a good way especially with the mangaka’sdeteriorating health. However, there’s more to it than meets the eye.
