2024 seems to be shaping up to be quite the year for superhero content. AfterThe Boys,Invincible,X-Men ’97, andDeadpool & Wolverine, DC is finally getting a chance to enter the race with its newest offering,Batman: Caped Crusader. The show was announced way back in 2021, and after almost three years of radio silence, the show has arrived in all it’s noir glory, putting the detective back in Detective Comics.
The show follows Batman and his allies and enemies in the grim realities of the 1940s, with theCaped Crusadercompletely stripped of all his modern gadgets. However, characters like Harley Quinn are very much present in this timeline, which affords an interesting dynamic for the story to go in. With Bruce Timm’s latest offering in Batman’s mythos, fans seem very excited about the Prime Video show and what it has to offer.

Batman: Caped Crusaderwould be Bruce Timm’s latest installment in the Batman mythos, and it is yet unknown whether he will be fleshing out the universe as he did withSuperman: The Animated Series,Batman: The Animated Series, andJustice League. The interesting take on the Bat, setting him in his formative years, seems to be the pull for the character.
Could other DC properties fit into the period as contemporaries of Batman?
IfCaped Crusaderis successful, it is expected that the show will be able to get more seasons. However, there is also the slim possibility of the fact that there could be a slew of other shows that share the same continuity asCaped Crusader.
This would not only put other characters in a similarly low-tech environment, but it would also be great to see these characters operate in a time when they were originally conceived.
