Ask any fan what they know about Peter Jackson and they will immediately mentionThe Lord of the Rings. The director carved his legacy in the cinema industry with his take on J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy novels and he knew it right from the start.

While he helmed several other films outside the blockbuster franchise, none of those came close to the popularity and profit of the trilogy.
The Lord Of The RingsActors Revealed Peter Jackson Declared His Legacy On Movie Set
While appearing onQ with Tom Powerpodcast show, actorsDominic MonaghanandBilly Boydrevealed what directorPeter Jacksontold the cast and crew ofThe Lord of the Ringswhile he was in the process of making it.
Peter Jackson said to us consistently on set, ‘This is the greatest job I’ve ever done. It will be the greatest job I’ll ever do, and this will be the thing that I’ll be remembered for,’ and we’re like, ‘Well if you think that then we have to fall in line with it.’

The duo, who played hobbits Merry and Pippin, also discussed how the cast and crew members were very dedicated to the film. “Every single person associated with that film, from Peter Jackson all the way down to someone that’s come in to build chain mail for armor in the film really cared about the project.”
Boyd chimed in and stated how it was “a universal belief in making something brilliant.” He even posed an interesting question: “What if, like, just one or two people just didn’t quite believe it?” In this sense, it’s quite difficult to distance oneself from a franchise so rich in culture and mythology. This is perhaps the first thing that attracted all of them to the project.

The fact that he said this between 1999 and 2000, the years he filmed all three installments, is sort of telling what he expected to happen in his career.
