Prior to the disastrous launch ofThe Day Before, followed by its ultimate demise just 45 days later, a solo developer had set out to prove that they could recreate the concept themselves. Now, after 300 hours of development, we have the very first gameplay trailer for ‘The Day After’.
The Day Before was marketed as a “post-apocalyptic open-world MMO survival set in the present day,” but it quickly became clear once the game launched that this was no MMO, and was more akin to an extraction shooter. An ex-developer at Fntastic laterrevealed to DualShockersin an exclusive interview that The Day Before was “never an MMO” and they had no idea why it was marketed as such.

The Day Before Scrubs YouTube Channel In Hopes You’ll Forget About Its Lies
“It is not an extraction game”…suuuuuure.
The controversies surrounding The Day Before are endless, yet oddly intriguing. What started out as one of Steam’s most wish-listed games quickly turned into one of the worst-reviewed games of 2023. A little over 2 weeks after its early access release,Fntastic announcedthat it was ceasing operations. As a result, The Day Before’s servers were taken offline earlier this week, just 45 days after its release.
The Day After Is An Incredibly Impressive Parody
The Day Before will forever be remembered as one of gaming’s biggest scandals, but one developer has taken it upon themselves to create a gameplay trailer for The Day After, a parody game that looks infinitely better than whatever Fntastic released last year.
The trailer, which you can check out below, was created by Crimson, a solo developer known for their work onSuit For Hireand the upcomingRonin 2072. According to Crimson, it took $1,500 worth of assets and 300 hours of development (which originally started back in March 2023, months before The Day Before was actually released).

Originally, Crimson set out to recreate part of The Day Before in just 7 days, posting their progressto their X (formerly known as Twitter) account. Later in the year, Crimson got back to work on the project before completing it earlier this week. However, it’s important to note that as Crimson says this project is “just for fun”, there are numerous bugs and unfinished sections throughout.
As for whether or not you’ll be able to get your hands on this yourself, the short answer is no. But Crimson did state that although this specific version probably won’t ever be released, they are planning on working on a co-op zombie survival game, so make sure to keep your eyes on Crimson’sXandYouTubeaccount for future updates.

How Did The Day Before Manage To Fool So Many People?
The shady survival game had red flags all over it since it first appeared on the scene, yet people still bought it, and now it’s gone.
