Commander Zhao Might Return in FutureAvatar: The Last AirbenderNetflix Seasons!
Commander Zhao remains one of the most interesting characters inAvatar: The Last Airbender, the Nickelodeon series cherished by generations. As a power-hungry admiral blinded by ambition, Zhao made it his mission to capture Avatar Aang, naturally becoming a rival toPrince Zuko.
Throughout the series, he posed a significant deal of threat to Aang, Sokka, and Katara, which culminated with the Northern Water Tribe and his ill-fated encounter with the Moon Spirit at the Spirit Oasis. This led to his ultimate downfall at the hands of the vengeful Ocean Spirit, throwing Zhao to an eternity in the Fog of Lost Souls within the Spirit World as it was seen inThe Legend of Korra.

In the Netflix series, Zhao’s fate was left ambiguous following his epic showdown with Zuko at the end of the first season. Actor Ken Leung has hinted that his character could potentially make a comeback in future seasons, suggesting that Netflix may diverge from the original series in unexpected ways. While speaking withDigital Spyhe revealed,
Well I think fans of the show know that we do see him, we see him in the fog of lost souls. Although our show keeps it ambiguous. You know this is a reimagining of the original so I’m not sure how much of that they’re reimagining, but it would be interesting to see him in a place where he is forced to face what he did and what it all means. That would be interesting to investigate.

He further continued,
Like season one he’s in this kind of rooster-ish kind of power position. It would be nice to see all of that broken down and he’s lost in the fog of lost souls and to see what happens then.

Ken Leung believes that if the character returns, fans will witness another side of Zhao, where he confronts the consequences of his actions. This could potentially steer the series in a completely new direction, diverging significantly from Nickelodeon’s original portrayal.
