Elden Ring, like so many other RPGs, allows players to create a diverse range of characters to suit almost any kind of playstyle. A sneaky sorcerer? You can make one. A tanky samurai? It’s entirely possible! With a multitude of weapons, armor, staves, and spells, the question inevitably becomes “What build should I create?”

One Malenia Theory Makes the Elden Ring Villain a Lot More Relatable

Well, if you’ve ever wanted to recreate Gandalf the Grey, Edward Elric, and Harry Potter in one character to decimate all living (and undead) things in The Lands Between, Fextralife has the perfect build for you: the Spellblade!

This Elden Ring Spellblade Build Focuses More on the ‘Blade’ Than it Does the ‘Spell’

But that doesn’t mean magic takes a back seat! TheSpellbladeis a quality build utilizing an aggressive playstyle that can be used for the entirety of the game. Your main damage dealer is going to be the reliable Claymore, as its charged attack has the perfect amount of reach to poke an enemy while keeping you at a safe enough distance to roll away when things get choppy. On the off-hand, you’ll be equipping theAcademy Glinstone Stafflater on, but can start with the old faithful Meteorite Staff.

To the Claymore, you’ll be slotting the Glintblade Phalanx Ash of War. While the Claymore can deal a decent amount of damage, this build focuses on stance breaks and critical hits. Each of the four Glintblade Phalanx projectiles deals 10 poise damage and the charged attack with the Claymore deals another 32. That’s a whopping 72 points of poise damage, enough to break the stance of most enemies in the game. Add the critical hits and you’ll be dishing outsome insane DPS numbers, all you need to keep in mind is the timing.

For the attribute spread, you can use the below values as a benchmark to be tweaked as per your requirements.

The Elden Ring Spellblade build requires armor that offers high poise stats

As you can see, with 50 in both Strength and Intelligence, and 25 in Endurance, you have the flexibility of choosing weapons and spells aside from the ones suggested. The spell you’d be using most is Scholar’s Armament to buff your Claymore with magic damage, but you can also slot in some ranged sorcery to soften enemies before going in for the kill.

Talismans and Armor Choices Can Also Be Mixed and Matched to Suit Your Playstyle

TheElden Ringwhizzes over at Fextralife have said you can use almost any armor piece that gives you high poise to be able to trade damage. As for Talismans, they suggested the Axe Taliman and Shard of Alexander to boost the damage of your charged attacks and Ash of War.

Assassin’s Cerulean Dagger will help recoup FP consistently thanks to all the poise breaks you’ll be creating. The Spear Talisman can boost your guard counter, but that can also be replaced with the Bull Goat Talisman for greater poise.

All in all, this is a solid flexible build that both new players and mid-game players can adopt and run with for the rest of the game and even NG+. Just make sure you keep your finger on that R2 button!
