There is a fine line between fiction and reality, and some hardcore fans often find it difficult to see this imaginary line and are often found crossing boundaries based on the extreme emotions they feel. Laura Bailey has been through a lot because of some of these mindless people, and this should not be repeated with Gabriella no matter how much people might hate her character.
Fans need to learn how to take fiction as fiction
Bailey is the voice behind Abby inThe Last of Us 2, one of the most hated characters in the world of games, largely because she kills Joel. Now what did the actor do wrong here to receive death threats from fans? She was doing her job.
People stooped so low that they even threatened her son; it was a really difficult period in her life, and it took a lot of courage for her to crawl out of this hate circle. Reflecting on her traumatic experience, shesaid:
The worst of it, the really like hardcore death threats, got passed along; um, they made sure that they weren’t anyone that lived close by. Yeah they were like threatning my son, you know, who was born during all of it. And yeah, it was rough. It was rough.
Bailey teared up while talking about all of this, which explains how much these negative comments affect an artist mentally. If someone does not like anything, it is on them; maybe it was not the right thing for them. Nothing gives anyone the right to threaten somebody based on a difference of opinion.
