But a lot of fans have asked, why was there never anUntil Dawn 2? According to a new report, there was an idea for a second installment that later became another title from this popular studio. Sony and Supermassive were in talks for a second game. But this never came through, for different reasons. The studio launched several titles, likeThe QuarryandThe Dark Pictures Anthology.

Supermassive Games became a popular studio thanks toUntil Dawn, the first of a long list of interactive movies and quick time events features that put the player in the decision-making process with the possibility of multiple endings. The core mechanic is to save as many characters as you can so they can help reach the end of the story. This studio later released numerous games with this kind of gameplay, which were well received by critics and players.

This kind of problem was present in the first episodes ofThe Dark Pictures Anthology. It is said thatThe Quarryis a spiritual successor toUntil Dawn. Supermassive Games and Sony have not spoken about these reports.
Supermassive Games and poor communication management
One of the more interesting details about this different issue within Supermassive Games’ decision-making is that the studio has not even shared some of its big recent announcements on social media.Until Dawnwill have a movie adaptation added to the release ofUntil Dawnfor PS5 and PC. The studio has not mentioned or acknowledged this announcement in any way or form.
The studio launched the first episode ofThe Dark Pictures Anthologyback in 2019 withMan of Medan;later in 2020,Little Hopewas released. One year later cameHouse of Ashesin 2021, and to close this first season of the game,The Devil in Me, in 2022. But the studio was never so busy, also launchingThe Quarryin 2022, thanks to 2K Games.
