After years of hype, since the manga became popular, theSakamoto Daysanime finally premiered this Winter 2025 season, but it didn’t go as one might have expected. The very first episode ended up receiving harsh criticism starting from the opening sequence to the whole episode and even for its ending credits.

And it’s hard to admit, but there’s not much wrong with it! The episode does have flaws, and manga readers are quick to point out their differences and discrepancies. From dubious choices of animation to a little rushed storytelling, there is definitely room for improvement.
But amidst all of this mess, there was one scene from the anime that far and beyond surpassed its manga counterpart, and everyone on social media is nodding to it!

Sakamoto looks like a real badass in this particular shot!
The scene, whereSakamoto is standing like an all-time bossin one frame as he checks the stuff in his arsenal in the basement, ends up blowing all the fan expectations away. This turned out way better than anyone could hope for; certainly a lot bigger and better improvement from the manga counterpart.

The scene is so well done that, Sakamoto’s arsenal here seems like it is capable of taking down an entire country! However, just one epic scene is never enough for any anime to stand out as a whole, as the Sakamoto criticisms certainly hold much value if one thinks about it.
Why theSakamoto Daysanime is being criticized?
Fans are majorly complaining about the action scenes in this very first episode ofSakamoto Daysanime, as they are claiming the fight scenes are too slow and not exciting at all. Since the action is supposed to be one of the bright spots of an anime, the action scenes feel like something is missing from them.
Theoverall animation quality is also subparat best, even the most important scenes did not live up to expectations. This is a really disappointing start and fans fear that the anime is going to do justice to the manga.

The characters and world presented inSakamoto Daysare really intriguing, yet with such stiff animation, itmakes it difficult for viewers to get immersed. A few changes here and there would make it quite an enjoyable watch.

Despite some nice moments in the first episode, the animation hasn’t really inspired much confidence for future arcs where the action will be more intense. Fans hope for improvement, but so far, the anime’s visuals aren’t showing much promise. The anime needs to up its game if it wants to do justice to the manga and keep fans engaged.
