Sebastian Kalemba announced onhis Twitter accountthat he will be taking the reins as the new game director of the upcomingWitcher saga.TheCD Projekt Red(CDPR) veteran served as the Lead Animator and Head of Animation before he became a Creative Director at CDPR. The director is now preparing to work on the new Witcher instalment, codenamed Polaris, which wasannounced in October. Alongside The Witcher Polaris, CDPR will develop two new titles to form a new AAA RPG trilogy in the franchise. It is important to note that the first entry in the new series is still in pre-production, which is why it is unlikely to arrivein the next few years.

According toLinkedIn, Kalemba has 16 years of animation experience under his belt, and he has been a part of CDPR since 2014. He has also served in the animation department forCyberpunk 2077while at the company.

While the new instalment now has a brand new game director, the details regarding its story, setting, and release date remain scarce. Though we can only guess that it will be a long time before we get our hands on the new Witcher game. Remembering Cyberpunk 2077’s troubled launch, CD Projekt Red will likely exercise on the side of caution when crafting a release timeline.

The Poland-based video game giant announced another title with the internal codename Canis Majoris. It wasrevealed just a week agothat the codename stands for the complete remake of the first entry in the series, The Witcher. The first title that ignited everything for the franchise will be built from the ground up byFool’s Theory, another Polish video game studio consisting of experienced staff members who have worked on previous Witcher titles. The studio also supported the development process of various RPG titles includingBaldur’s Gate 3andDivinity: Original Sin 2. As stated in theofficial blog post, CDPR will have full creative supervision during the development process, which will be carried out in Unreal Engine 5.

Moreover,a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077is also on its way to once again invite us to the dark dystopia. CD Projekt Red aims to build on the success ofCyberpunk 2077as the action-adventure titlesold 20 million copies. The studio will dive into the development process of the sequel after the first DLC Phantom Liberty makes its debut.
