Spoiler Alert !!!‘The Acolyte’ Spoilers Ahead!
The Acolytemay not be fans’ best-ratedStar Warstelevision series of all time (although critics tend to differ with their respective points of view), but it still has a lot of fans at the edge of their seats with its jaw-dropping twists and turns. That said, with the last-second episode of the series about to hit the screens soon, viewers can’t help but predict what could happen next.
With each passing day, fans are popping up with a new theory, and some of the latest theories are truly wild. This is because this theory claims that it was none other than the witches themselves who took control of Kelnacca and turned him against the Jedi which eventually led them to their tragic fate. Moreover, that’s not all, because there’s an even darker alternate theory than this.

WildThe AcolyteTheory Claims The Witches Led to Their Own Doom
Now that the season finale is right around the corner, fans have dived deep into speculation to figure out through theories what could possibly happen next and how the story could end. One of these fan theories was posted byRedditor r/AdHairy4360during a discussion on Reddit, which pulled out the possible reason why the witches all died.
According to this theory, the witches decide against giving up on Osha when the Jedi return to take her, leading to them being“met with resistance”when they arrive. Instead,“no fight starts until Mother Aniseya takes control of Kelnacca as the coven uses the power of many to focus The Thread on Mother Aniseya as she controls Kelnacca fighting the Jedi.”

“They’re just not the same Jedi”: Leslye Headland Says The Acolyte Has a Different Breed of Jedi Who Don’t Follow the ‘George Lucas Concept’
That’s not all. This theory further states that“after some battling, Indara figures this out and makes her way to Aniseya, and while she is connected to the coven she is killed.”Needless to say, this move on the witches’ partends up killing all of them in the coven. But while that’s that, this theory further makes it clear that Sol isn’t aware of this while it happens.
Instead, while this is happening in the coven and the witches perish,“Sol is going to get the girls and isn’t aware at this time how the witches all died. He finds out later.”To put it in a nutshell, this theory single-handedly seems to claim that the coven’s witches’ resistance to letting the Jedi take Osha was what eventually led to them being wiped out.

Needless to say, this theory seems pretty reliable, and some other fans feel the same way, as can be seen in the comments. However, that isn’t all, because one alternate theory points out a similar theory regarding the witches getting wiped out, thoughthis one takes a different turnthan all the witches dying because of Mother Aniseya being connected to the coven.
One Other Redditor Offers An Alternate End To This Theory
Just like the theory from r/AdHairy4360, their alternate theory from r/DoctorDollarSign seems to offer a similar take. While this one does wander along the lines of the witches not wanting to give up on Osha as the Jedi come to take her, it holds a twisted turn of events after that. According to this,“Mother Aniseya tries to convince them to let her go.”
However, this doesn’t work out as Mother Korril“refuses and hijacks Kelnacca to make him attack the other Jedi; one of the first blows is the one that scars Torbin’s eye.”But since the way she does this isn’t exactly clear,“Indara, Torbin, and Sol can’t figure out which witch is controlling him…..so they just decide to kill them all.”

This results in a giant fight erupting, eventually leading to“massive collateral damage (maybe the reactor going off, too) and the deaths of all the witches, though maybe with Korril herself getting away safely.”Be that as it may, there’san alternate take to this theoryas well. According to this:
Maybe Sol realizes that what the other Jedi are doing is bad, so he breaks off from the others and goes to try and rescue Mae and Osha, though we know he only succeeds in saving Osha. Then, he meets Indara and Torbin back on the ship, and Kelnacca goes into hiding, having developed severe trauma from being possessed.

All of this being said, both of these theories seem pretty viable. However, since other fans are still pointing out minor counterarguable points about this in the comment section, we might as well take this with a pinch of salt.
