Attack on Titanis an intense story, where the characters often face life-and-death situations. The shock value throughout the four seasons is insane, and every turn ramps up the stakes, meeting fans with mind-blowing developments. With so many plot twists and shocking events, the narrative is bound to get redundant.

However, that doesn’t happen withAttack on Titan, mostly due to Hajime Isayama’s refreshing storytelling in the manga. As for the anime, the voice actors played a huge role in convincingly conveying the gravity of the narrative.
Their performances were extraordinary and this level of commitment is unimaginable from someone who’s not personally invested in the job they’re doing. The voice actor of Eren for the English dub, Bryce Papenbrook, proved that this is true, as he was enamored by his love for Eren.

The moment that hooked Eren’s VA onAttack on Titan
The plot progression inAttack on Titangot more intense with every subsequent chapter and episode. However, there are many powerful moments in the earlier season that have aged beautifully. One such moment hooked Bryce Papenbrook toAttack on Titan, as he sharedduring an interview with CBRalongside his co-star, Josh Grelle – the voice actor of Armin.
The voice actors were asked about their first impressions of the characters they were playing. Eren’s VA jumped right in with his answer to share that he always felt drawn to Eren. However, there was one particular moment of the character that hooked him to the series. He said:

I mean, he just has this intensity about him, and especially in that first season – Episode 5 is the one where Eren gets chomped. That’s the moment in the show that absolutely got me hooked on the show.
The scene that Papenbrook is referring to is extremely special and is one of the coolest Eren moments to date. The mere mention of this scene is enough to remind fans of their early memories withAttack on Titan.

No Amount of Practice Could Have Prepared Hajime Isayama to Draw the Most Difficult Attack on Titan Characters
This episode was extraordinary in many ways, asHajime Isayamahighlighted the core characteristics of the central trio. The mangaka prepared fans for the characters who were going to accompany them for the decade to come. And these young characters were far from perfect!
An imperfect introduction to the central trio
The fourth season ofAttack on Titancompletely changed fans’ perception of Eren. Before his transformation, he was a protagonist who divided the fandom with his impulsive ways. Eren was very shonen-like in his essence. He had a goal, but a long journey ahead to get strong enough to achieve it. Despite his weaknesses, he often caused trouble for others by getting in trouble.
Hajime Isayama Did Nothing to Counter an Attack on Titan Accusation in One Area Where Tite Kubo Excelled With Bleach
In that particular scene, Eren’s coolest side is at the forefront. Irrespective of his shortcomings, he was truly brave and didn’t think twice before jumping straight into the Titan’s mouth. Contrary to Eren, we had Armin, who was everything but brave. He broke into tears and found himself unable to move.
Thebrief glimpse of Mikasa sensing something wrong was everythingthe character represented for years to come. She always ensured the safety of her friends before anything. In hindsight, the characters have come a long way since then. But it was a great introduction to their imperfections, as they all did what felt natural to them in that moment.
