Throughout its run, many famous science figures stopped by the set ofThe Big Bang Theory, which is notable among the science community for making subjects like physics and astronomy look cool. These figures included the likes of Bill Nye, Stephen Hawking, George Smoot, and Steve Wozniak, who all ended up having a brief cameo in the sitcom.
While it was common for scientists and physicists to pay a visit to the set of the acclaimed sitcom, things went south after one of them discovered actual uranium in Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment.

Being a sitcom centering around science, the show featured several props, including an antique Geiger counter, which was present in Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment. But when a famous physicist paid a visit, he discovered that it contained uranium, as such old Geiger counters“often had a piece of uranium in them”.Fortunately for them, the physicist had a working Geiger counter in the trunk of his car and was successful in removing it and taking it away from the set.

He went out and grabbed it and brought it over to the set and, of course, the thing starts going off and making noises. So he opened up the old Geiger counter, saw the uranium, and said, ‘I’m going to put this in a lead box and take it away now.’ And then he removed a piece of uranium from the Geiger counter and left!

Speaking of its finale,Bill Pradystressed that it’s hard to reopen the story after the ending, and Lorre shared a similar sentiment, stating that they haven’t left any loose ends.
I agree, I don’t think we left anything undone. That was as close to a perfect finale as we could have ever dreamt of doing. I loved it.
As for the uranium, it’s safe to say it didn’t have a lasting impact on the cast and crew, as much of the danger with uranium comes from inhaling it in large quantities.
