Invinciblegained a notorious reputation for the delays faced by the animated show’s second season. Based on the Robert Kirkman comic of the same name, the show’s second season premiered almost two years after its debut season. Meanwhile, a live-action film based on the comic, which has been stuck in development is facing similar struggles.

During a recent interview, Kirkman spoke about the delays in getting the live-action film off the ground. The disappointing update certainly does not inspire hope of the movie materializing anytime soon. However, the reasons for the delay in a live-actionInvicincbleadaptation might just make fans go easy on Marvel’sBlade, which seems to be stuck in developmental hell.
InvincibleCreator Provides Depressing New Update on Live-Action Movie
Invincibleis a comic book written byRobert Kirkmanand illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley. It was adapted into a successful adult animated series for Amazon Prime, while a live-action adaptation has been in development at least since 2021.
During a recent appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con, Kirkman sat down for a discussion withThe Direct. During the interview, he was asked about the live-action adaptation and had a disappointing update about its progress for the fans.

It’s been in development for a long time, and it’s probably going to be in development for a while longer.
Kirkman stated, confirming that the film was still alive and in development at Universal Studios. However, the comic writer added that for the film to be perfect a lot of pieces need to align, causing several delays.

I think that we’re hopefully going to do something pretty cool, but it may take so long that Timothée Chalamet can play Omni-Man.
Kirkman jokingly commented, referencing the character voiced by J.K. Simmons in the animated series, and implying that the film was years away from production.

Furthermore, Kirkman explained that the live-action film needed to provide a different experience from the comic and animated series. As a result, the creative team was busy trying out new ideas and conceiving new ways to tell the story of Mark Grayson for the big screen.
InvincibleLive-Action Movie Delays Might Make Haters Sympathetic TowardsBlade
Kirkman’s depressing yet understandably practical update on the live-action adaptation of his comic might make some fans finally go easy on Marvel Studios’ much-malignedBladereboot. The project was first announced in 2019, withMahershala Aliplaying the titular daywalker.
However, despite being announced almost four years ago, the film hasn’t seen any real progress. Over the years, several writers and directors, including the likes of Bassam Tariq, Yann Demange, andTrue Detectivecreator Nic Pizzolatto, were attached at different points during development but ended up exiting the project.

Furthermore, the projectdid not receive any updatesat Marvel Studios’ recent Hall H panel. As a result, the upcoming film has become a bit of a laughingstock among MCU fans. However, the logic behind Kirkman’s reasoning for delays in theInvinciblemovie can also be applied toBlade.

The character of Blade is a fan-favorite among comic readers and also had a fairly successful live-action film franchise led by Wesley Snipes. As a result, fans must be patient as Marvel finds a way to create an all-new experience with the reboot.Bladeis currently scheduled to be released on July 03, 2025.
