According to Bandai Namco, Synduality has an emotional story background centered on the relationship between artificial intelligence and humankind. As opposed to the other science-fiction games, humans won’t fight against a frantic AI that aims to take over the world. On the contrary, they will work in collaboration to combine the best of both their kinds. Briefly, a venomous blue rain, also called “Blueschist”, poured down the earth, resulting in the extinction of live populations, including animals and plants. Humankind was forced to build an underground city called Amasia with the hopes of finding a sustainable home.

Amasia is a giant underground city regulated by artificial intelligence. Those who survived in the rain found the solution by building a shelter to continue their lineage. The people of Amasia spend their time searching for AO crystals on the surface, these crystals are an energy source and provide the city with electricity. The character Alba Kuze teams up with ADA who aids him in collecting AO crystals. As outlined above Cradle Coffins are the mechs that the characters operate, Alba’s Cradle Coffin is named Bowie Rabbit. The “deadly creatures” the characters will face are called Enders. These malevolent beings will oppose the player in their search for crystals.

Synduality was first revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, and it will launch forPlayStation 5, Xbox Series X-S, and PC via Steam in 2023.
