Bandai Namco revealed new details onSword Art Online Alicization Lycorisat the âSAOÂBeaterâs Meeting 2019â³ event. A brand new trailer for the game was shown, and a new character was revealed, Medina Orthinanos. The trailer is included below.
Medina Orthinanos is voiced by Miho Okasaki. Nothing much was revealed about Medina for now, besides these two visuals and how she’s hinted to be fighting for her family’s honor in the trailer. They actually put her in the main visual with Kirito, Alice, and Eugeo, meaning she should have an important role in the game’s story. This also implies thatAlicization Lycoriswill have original story elements besides adapting the first part of theAlicizationarc.
A short gameplay video showing Medina and Kirito was also published on Twitter. We can guess with it that Medina is a one-handed sword user.
Medina’s reveal isn’t surprising and follows the tradition of how eachSword Art Onlinegame has an original female character appearing in it. Strea was introduced in the very first game,Sword Art Online Infinity Moment. Then there was Philia inSAO Hollow Fragment. Seven and Rain (and Sumeragi) inSAO Lost Song. Then we got Premiere inSAO Hollow Realization. Lastly, there were Kureha and Zeliska inSword Art Online: Fatal Bullet.
All these female original characters also always appeared in subsequent games. It’s not confirmed yet, but it’s highly likely Strea, Philia, Seven, Rain, Premiere, Kureha and Zeliska will all appear inSword Art Online Alicization Lycoris.Now to see if Medina will be an interesting character or simply yet another addition to Kirito’s harem for no reason.
