Shark Tankjudge Kevin O’Leary has often been criticized for throwing fits over investment seekers and losing his cool during his tenure on the show. But on top of being a polarizing figure among fans of Shark Tank, O’Leary is also notable for dishing out financial advice on a regular in his socials.

A month ago, taking to his IG, the Canadian businessman delivered one more money-saving advice, and while it did rub some in the wrong way, O’Leary wasn’t completely wrong with his assessment.

Kevin O’Leary Advises People Against Overspending on Coffee

In one of his IG posts, Kevin O’Leary called out people, who spend a notable portion of their salary on“stupid stuff”. The Canadian businessman advised them to stop spending on coffee and a sandwich on their way to work, urging them to make one at home and carry it to work, as he further warned people against overspending.

Stop buying coffee for $5.50. You got to work and spend $15 on a sandwich — what are you, an idiot? It costs you 99 cents to make a sandwich at home and bring it with you. Most people, particularly working in metropolitan cities that are just starting out in their job making their first $60,000, piss away about $15,000 a year on stupid stuff.

While some were less-than-thrilled by his statements and claimed that the businessman was out of touch, this is far from O’Leary’s most controversial advice.

Moreover, given the hike in prices, in the long term, this advice could prove to be very beneficial from a financial point of view.

Kevin O’Leary Is Not a Fan of Couples Merging Their Finances

Apart from advising people against spending on coffee, theShark Tankjudge recentlycautionedcouples against merging their finances, irrespective of the love and trust they share.

While merging finances does have its perks, as it could simplify splitting financial responsibilities, it also comes with its own sets of risks, as one’s debt could take a toll on both of their credit.

What I tell everybody to do in a relationship is: Have your own account, your own credit card — never merge your finances together. I don’t care how in love you are, you keep your account to yourself.

Although O’Leary is no stranger tobeing called out, some of his advice does have some value, which could help one with their finances.
