Stellar Bladewas fated for success even before release, and April has only proved that. While there were a ton of controversies regarding its protagonist, issues around censorship, and a lot of frenzied discourse in general, the game’s Metacritic scores show that underneath all of that, it’s a game worth a shot.

However, since its release, there’s been one aspect of the game that many feel is missing, and according to SHIFT UP’s CEO, Hyung-Tae Kim, it might not be a ‘missing’ feature for soon.
Stellar Blade Desperately Needs This One Mode From Miyazaki’s Games
After the game was released, SHIFT UP added ‘New Game+’, which transfers existing data after the ending into a new save, so you’re able to keep all your acquired skills and outfits. That was one of the biggest features that gamers requested, and SHIFT UP certainly delivered.
However, there’s another updatethat fans were desperate to see implemented into the game—a Boss Rush mode.

Stellar Blade, being a game that has a very extensive and in-depth combat system that matches its Soulslike difficulty, is a perfect candidate for this type of mode.

A Boss Rush system is essentially one where players can fight major bosses in the game back-to-back, sort of like a gauntlet, without having to replay the entire game.
According toNate, which recently interviewed Hyung-Tae Kim on the game’s success, it gave some hopeful news about the Boss Rush system.

This type of game mode is being planned, so hopefully plans don’t fall through and SHIFT UP delivers. The site also mentioned that a DLC has not been decided as of yet.
History Shows Boss Rush Modes Take a While to Implement
Stellar Bladeisn’t the first game to keep players on the edge of their seats as they wait for Boss Rush Mode, and Kim’s idea might very well have been inspired by the FromSoftware guru, Hidetaka Miyazaki himself.
There was a similar issue with Miyazaki’s 2019 hit SoulslikeSekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The game’s combat relies heavily on player skill, as you may’t rely on over-leveling your stats or grinding for the best armor and gear.

Hidetaka Miyazaki Had a “Grittier” Reason for Setting Sekiro in the Bloodiest Era of Japanese History
It was the perfect candidate for a Boss Rush system, especially as the bosses are very diverse in their movements. A ton ofSekiroplayers thought so too, but FromSoftware didn’t.
Not until a year later at least, which is when the game finally got a proper Boss Rush mode called the Gauntlet, where you fight harder versions of familiar bosses.

Considering the nature of SHIFT UP’s latest game, it would highly benefit from a similar mode. And hopefully, this time, it doesn’t take a year to release.
