Starfieldplayers have already started discovering hidden ways to make their space exploration experience more immersive. The game is currently only available for players with early access via the premium edition, and the amount of secrets players are finding in the initial few hours has been pretty significant.

In a new post on the Starfield subreddit, userDionysusDerpexplains a way in which players can travel across the planets and land without any hindrances. Usually, when one wants to fast travel in the game, they need to head to the menu and open the map. However, there is a better way of travelling, which the game doesn’t explain, for some reason.

In order to use this method, players first need to open their scanner and find the planet they want to travel to and point towards that. Then by using the respective prompt on the screen (E on the keyboard, A on the controller), players can select the planet. Finally, using the R key (X on the controller), players can travel to the planet.

The user goes on to explain that they were able to replicate to travel across systems as well while a mission is selected. In short, players can actually seamlessly travel through space without having to open the map using these methods. Considering that this is a more immersive way of travelling, players were surprised that it is not well explained in the game’s tutorial. The game does explain something similar, which is fast travelling using the scanner. While the process is somewhat similar, fast travelling is only available between specific points of interest players have previously visited on the map.

Considering the fact that fans have actually been really disappointed with the traversal system, due to having to open the map every time, this revelation could be a game-changer. Exploration is one of the core premises of the game, and with such a massive world, immersion could significantly impact the overall experience. Thankfully, as more and more players are discovering this hidden mechanic, they seem to be changing their opinion about the traversal system.
