When first startingStarfield,players will be met with an extensive character creation menu that includes backgrounds and traits. One particular trait called Kid Stuff might catch their eye. This trait allows players to have two living parents who provide constant support throughout the game via messages and conversations.
Not only can players visit them, but they also live in a nice home where they’re welcome anytime. However, the only possible downside is that they’ll have to send 2% of their credits back to them every week.
Visiting Your Parents in Starfield’s New Atlantis
The Kid Stuff trait inStarfieldis ideal for those who enjoy the idea of having family in-game, and adding to the roleplaying experience, even if it means losing a bit of money. When was the last time a Bethesda game protagonist had living parents?
Once players arrive in New Atlantis, finding their parents is a pretty straightforward process. To reach them, players need to make their way to the Residential District where Pioneer Tower is situated.
The most efficient method is to use the city’s rapid transit system, known as the NAT. For those new to the city, the Spacedock District has a terminal that takes players directly to the Residential District.

Upon arrival, Pioneer Tower will be easy to spot as it’s one of the nearest buildings to the transit stop. Inside the tower, players can take an elevator straight to the Family Apartments where their in-game parents reside.
This has been made even easierafter in-game maps were added several months after launch, making their initial omission rather baffling.
While there might not be immediate rewards for visiting, it becomes beneficial as players progress in the game. Over time, they can receive items such as weapons or even a starship, simply by checking in with their parents now and then and having conversations with them after major main story missions.
Players Can Also Remove the Kid Stuff Trait
While this is a fun little thing, it can get annoying later on, having to constantly keep up with them,for roleplaying and immersion purposes.
Not all players may want to continue sending part of their credits home every week, have to check in with them regularly, or be constantly reminded of them via Constellation’s Noel.
Fortunately, removing the Kid Stuff trait is pretty simple. To do so, players can speak with their father during a visit and let him know they can no longer afford to send money. Since living in New Atlantis is expensive, the parents will have to move out if they don’t receive financial help.
Starfield: How to Level Up Quickly
Once the decision is made, the Kid Stuff trait is removed from the character, and the parents leave New Atlantis within a few days. Afterward, players won’t be able to visit them again, but they won’t have the trait holding them back either.
For those who stick with the Kid Stuff trait, they’ll continue to receive small gifts and benefits from their parents throughout the game.
Whether it’s a weapon or a starship, the ongoing perks may make the credit deductions worth it for players in the long run, and credits are pretty easy to come by as players progress through the game.
