Starfieldis the culmination of years of Bethesda experience, and it shows in this sprawling adventure filled with numerousplanetsto explore, factionsto join, and quests to complete. The most integral part of accomplishing all of this exploration, however, is the ship with which the player travels.
Starfield: How To Use Powers
Powers are unique abilities players will get access to through Starfield’s main story; here’s how they work.
While the player is gifted a vessel during the opening moments of Starfield from Barret, there will always be a desire to build one’s own ship to their personal preferences. Here’s how you’re able to build the ship of your dreams.

How To Build Your Own Ship
The starship customization options in Starfield are expansive, albeit admittedly weak at the beginning of the game due to a potential lack of inventory space or funds to purchase new parts.Still, the option to modify and craft a ship is available from the very beginning by speaking with any Ship Services Technician. New ship pieces and parts can also be purchased through these techs, too, during the building or customization process. Staryards and various vendors throughout the massive sprawling universes of Starfield will also sell ship parts. Be sure to peruse inventory when visiting new worlds or staryards, as there may be an upgrade worth picking up (for example, visiting theDeimos Staryardwill open up access to Deimos-specific ship parts and more).
Keep in mind, however, that while a ship can be built from scratch, the player needs an existing ship to use as a starting point. For example, after Barret gives you the Frontier, you may completely break it down and remove all parts in the shipbuilder to then rebuild it from the ground up however you want.

In New Atlantis, the Ship Services Technician is waiting almost immediately after the player exits their ship. He will be waiting in front of a green kiosk before the first ramp down into New Atlantis. You’ll also find technicians waiting near the landing pad atall major citiesthroughout the game (for example, inAkila City, the Ship Tech has a building straight ahead of where the player’s ship is landed), so finding a tech should be stress free.
Steps For Customizing Or Building A New Ship
Now that the Ships Services Technician has been thoroughly overworked and made perhaps a bit wealthier, the final things you’ll want to understand are the ship stats. Most of the descriptors are self-explanatory, but remember thatHull is the stat for a ship’s hit points, and the weapon types (Bal for ballistics, Las for laser, for example) explain the type of damage the weapons dish out to an enemy vessel.
Now that you and the poor technician have finished all the hard work, it’s time to enjoy that beautiful new build while journeying through the galaxies.
