Showrunner Leslye Headland revealed the number of seasons she aspires to make forStar Wars: The Acolyte, and it seems she wants to do the same asThe Mandalorian. Pedro Pascal’s series has so far three seasons, and it looks like a fourth installment is on the horizon.

The Acolyteis yet to premiere on the small screen, but early reviewers raved about the dark and gritty storyline, hyping up fans who are anticipating its release on the streaming platform.
The AcolyteShowrunner Reveals Plans For The Series
Speaking withCollider, series creator Leslye Headland revealed she wants to helm at least three seasons forStar Wars: The Acolyte. Her enthusiasm was also quite evident in her statement.
This is my dream job. I’m saying three [seasons] because I’m hoping they’ll allow me to do that, but if I could snap my fingers, it would just be, this is my job until I retire. I actually can’t think of a higher creative or career peak than working on Star Wars. So, I really am good. I don’t really need to do anything else.

The showrunner’s ambitious plan for the series is brought about by her fascination withStar Wars. Indeed, she sees herself working on the famed franchise for a long time. Actress Amandla Stenberg also reacted to Headland’s response:
I would be so chill with it. I also refer to it often, on the assumption that we’ll be able to continue for as long as we want to, as Star Wars University to all of my friends and family. When I was making this choice, I was like, ‘I think I’m going to go to Star Wars University.’

The thing about renewing shows for several seasons is that longer storylines do not always mean better. The studio will be taking a huge risk for something they could have wrapped up early on.
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy Says New Star Wars Projects Likely to be Prequels: “We’ve been talking… How did the Jedi evolve?”
The Acolytewould need to have a strong grip on its plot and be able to sustain positive reactions from fans in order to succeed. Otherwise, it will just end up becoming likeThe Mandalorianwhich diminished in quality as it went on.
Pedro Pascal Has No Idea How Many SeasonsThe MandalorianWill Have
Pedro Pascalpreviously responded to the question of how many seasons he seesThe Mandalorianwill have. He toldEntertainment Tonight:
No idea, I have no idea. Because I think that quality is always gonna override quantity. So as long as it’s staying at this incredible standard to which it is at, it’s more a matter of that than anything else.

The problem withThe Mandalorianis that fans felt it has sacrificed the quality of the show by extending the story for too long. Based on the51% audience scoreonRotten Tomatoes, the series is no longer entertaining viewers. The first season received an impressive92% ratingin contrast.
