Aspyr released theStar Wars Battlefront Classic Collectionyesterday, which includes remastered editions of the two classic Star Wars titlesSTAR WARS BattlefrontandSTAR WARS Battlefront 2. The first of those titles was released almost twenty years ago in September 2004, and the sequel was released seven years back in 2017.

There are additional maps, support for up to 64 players, and an expanded Hero Assault. That Multiplayer mode, however, is reportedly broken at launch, and adding the price tag of $35, the game is already being avoided by several fans. Fans were so puzzled about the collection that one even wondered if Aspyr expected anyone to purchase it.
Aspyr’s Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection Getting Riddled with Negative Reviews
Any Steam title with over 4,000 reviews and an average rating of “Overwhelmingly Negative” is automatically considered a disaster and joining the infamous list is theStar Wars Battlefront Classic Collection. It has only been a day since release and the game’s already bombed with negative reviews.
Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection Review (PS5)
It’s still far from getting anywhere close to the infamous record set byOverwatch 2which still holds the title of being the worst-rated Steam title. At the time of writing,Overwatch 2has over 249,000 negative reviews in total, and even the most recent 9,000 reviews haven’t changed the opinion about the game at all.
This isn’t a record that Aspyr would like theStar Wars Battlefront Classic Collectionto emulate but looking at the reviews coming thick and fast by fans, it looks like it’s only a matter of time before Aspyr’s remastered collection faces similar numbers.

The negative reviews were almost expected as the remastered edition was released with a plethora of bugs but what’s more interesting was that the remastered upgrades were cited as being a downgrade in reality.
Fan Collates Issues Faced with the Remastered Edition
Streamer Sebmentionedthe issues on X and compiled a list of them faced by players when trying to play the remastered edition and it’s not a small list either, as he listed them all spread over two of his posts.
-No Invert Controls-Gungan model errors that crash the game-Control Mapping Complications-Achievements aren’t working-UI ‘upgrade’ is controversial (viewed as a downgrade)-Story Missions are missing cutscenes-Incorrect Audio Output-No Forced Team Balance (BF1)

The originalStar Wars Battlefrontgame required close to 5 GB of space for the game to be installed and the remastered edition requires well over 64 GB of space with the addition of AI-upscaled textures, and the fact that it didn’t help the game look anywhere close to looking like an upgrade was also mentioned by Seb.

“Am I the only one that feels this way?”: Helldivers 2, Suicide Squad and More Live Service Games Come Under Fire for Relatable Reason
The comparisons made by fans withOverwatch 2in terms of getting the title for the worst-reviewed game on Steam aren’t too far-fetched either, going by the number of bugs that are being reported. It will take a massive effort from Aspyr to relinquish the bugs for players to have a better experience with the game.
Aspyr is also working on the highly awaitedStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) Remake, and fans have nearly zero faith given just how bad the port is for theStar Wars Battlefront Classic Collection, and will now hope that all the delay for theKOTORremake is worth it in the end.
