Star Ocean The Second Story Rhas multiple companions for players to find and recruit. Throughout a playthrough, players can only fill out their party to a maximum of eight companions, with certain companions locking players out from recruiting others later in the game.

With Rena and Claude being required companions, there are only six slots left for additional companions, with one option being Opera. Opera is unique in that she is also from another planet like Claude and has a personal story that leads to another useful companion.

How To Recruit Opera
To recruit Opera, playersmust NOT recruit Ashton,as recruiting him will lock players out of recruiting Opera. Players must alsocomplete a Private Event in Krosse,available on the first visit,where a Three-Eyed Man is seen.With these conditions metOpera will become recruitable after completing the events of the Lacquer Armory Contest.
Head to thetown of Hilton and head to the bar towards the center of townwith a mug sign above the door. Head inside as normal and not during aPrivate Actionto meet Opera, who is looking for the Three-Eyed Man. Return toKrosse and request an audience with the king with the receptionistbefore going and talking to him. He will give the player permission to enter theMountain Palace, which is in the mountains to the north or Krosse.
Head into the Mountain Palace and headdeeper into the maze.Eventually, players will come across Opera, who willoffer to join the party and request assistance in exploring the rest of the Mountain Palace.After she joins the party, players caneither complete the Mountain Palace or leave with the new party member.

Should You Recruit Opera
While every party member is a viable option,Opera is widely considered one of the best party members in the game.Shedeals great amounts of damageand has powerful abilities, along withone of the strongest party-wide healing abilities in the game.Progressing through Opera’s personal story willeventually let players recruit Ernest,another very powerful party member, making Opera a better overall choice over Ashton.
