We finally know whenS.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobylwill be making its way to PS5, and it’s coming on an appropriate day.
GSC Game World has released a new trailer announcing that the PS5 version of the game,revealed earlier this summer, will launch on July 08, 2025, the first anniversary of its release on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
The trailer also has a creative way of showing off some of the new features coming in the PS5 port of STALKER 2, and how it will make full use not just of the hardware of the console itself, but also the features of the DualSense controller.
The trailer communicates it all through the lens of the player playing the game within the game itself, marveling at the power of the PS5 and its controller.
How Will STALKER 2 Be Different On PS5?
The biggest differences in the PS5 port of STALKER 2 will be in its use of the DualSense controller.
The trailer puts a lot of focus on the immersion that the controller offers with its adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, and the way they make each gun feel different and help the player feel when they take damage in-game.
It also highlights the implementation of motion controls, using the motion sensor in the controller to make fine aim adjustments more easily and naturally than using the sticks alone, once you get past the slight learning curve.
The game will also use the speaker on the controller for incoming calls, as well as touchpad gestures for things like playing guitar.
As for console hardware features, STALKER 2 on PS5 will use Tempest 3D Audio, improved shadows, volumetric fog, and resolution, higher-quality reflections, enhanced clouds, and other improvements for certain visual effects, not to mention trophies.
STALKER 2 has seen a wide range oftechnical and gameplay improvementsandsome big updatessince its launch last year, andthere’s still more to comebefore the PS5 launch.
There’s still some work to be done to fully get the game past the struggles of its launch, but hopefully GSC Game World will be able to get it done so STALKER 2 is as good as it should be when it finally comes to PS5.
