Splatoon Raiders only has a brief trailer, revealing that players are controlling a character called the “Mechanic,” who helps the Deep Cut Trio as they explore the Spirhalite Islands. It’s currently unclear whether this is a multiplayer game, or whether it will Splatoon’s first ever fully solo game.
Additionally, Nintendo announced that a free update for Splatoon 3 is coming on June 12. Thisupdate adds 30 new weapon kits, the return of the Urchin Underpass stage from the first game, a raise on weapon Freshness caps, and a new stat for the Anarchy Battle mode that rates players’ effectiveness and matches them with people of a similar skill level. The update also improves the visuals on Switch 2.

It’s surprising that Nintendo just shadow-dropped this news a few days after the Switch 2 launch, rather than including it as one of the announcements duringthe system’s first Direct. Splatoon is one of Nintendo’s biggest franchises, especially in the modern era, and it deserves a bigger spotlight than a random announcement.
