After many months of waiting,Splatoonfans will be pleased to know that Nintendo has finally confirmed an official release date forSplatoon 3, along with new box art images, gameplay, and more.

Splatoon 3will be released for the Nintendo Switch later this year and will be just over five years since the hit sequel, Splatoon 2launched back in 2017. Plenty of fan favourite elements will be returning in the third entry, including Turf Wars, Salmon Run Co-Op Mode, and plenty more.

To hype up the announcement of the officialSplatoon 3release date, Nintendo has given fans a brand new look at some gameplay of a Turf War battle in a location known as Eeltail Alley.

Splatoon 3 Box Art & New Gameplay Revealed

The officialSplatoonTwitter account not only confirmed a September 9th release date forSplatoon 3, but they also treated fans to a new 3 minute and 50 second YouTube clip of some brand new gameplay.

Showcased in the new video is footage of a Turf War in Eeltail Alley. Nintendo pointed out that the central bridge of the map is the focal point of the action, which looks to create an epic battle.

A new class of weapon was also confirmed by Nintendo, known as the stringer. According to Nintendo, the stringer “can fire ink horizontally or vertically depending on whether they are fired while standing or jumping. Either way, a simple press of ZR is all it takes to start splatting”.

As confirmed by Nintendo, the release date forSplatoon 3on the Nintendo Switch isFriday, September 9th, 2022. Pre-orders are now live on the officialNintendo store page, or if you’re after a physical edition, you can visit your local retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and more. The price may vary depending on your retailer, but the Nintendo Store lists the game with a price of $59.99 USD.

Unfortunately, no pre-order bonus details were announced by Nintendo but could be confirmed at a later date.
