Mortal Kombat 11hasn’t even been in the public consciousness for a weekat this point but already fans are clamoring to know just which characters will make an appearance on the roster this time around. Well, one character outside of the realm ofMortal Kombatmight be joining the fight this time around if a recent potential hint turns out to be accurate.
Over on Reddit this evening, famous comic book creator and artist Todd McFarlane was somewhat randomly asked during an AMA if one of his most famous characters, Spawn, would be appearing on the roster forMortal Kombat 11. McFarlane responded by simply saying, “I believe he’s on his way…”
Now, this is by no means a confirmation that Spawn will be present inMortal Kombat 11, so don’t get too excited just yet. That said, NetherRealm did end up including quite a few other characters as DLC from famous mediums inMortal Kombat Xwith Jason Vorhees, Predator, Leatherface, and an Alien (Xenomorph) all joining the roster. Plus, Spawn has always been a violent character himself and his inclusion in the world ofMortal Kombatwould seem like a natural fit. He’s also been in a fighting game in the past, too, previously appearing on the Xbox version ofSoulCalibur II.
As also pointed out beResetEra user Pixelbuster, Spawn is about to enter the spotlight much more in the coming years as a new film centered around the character is still in the early stages of production. Putting Spawn inMortal Kombat 11would be a great way to promote the character and get attention from fans once again.
Whether or not Spawn will actually be inMK11or is just wishful thinking on McFarlane’s part remains to be seen. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about this and otherMortal Kombat 11details next month during the game’s community reveal on January 17.
Mortal Kombat 11is set to release on April 23 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
