Koyoharu Gotouge’sDemon Slayerhas been the talk of the town for years. From its unique premise to a heartwrenching ending, fans of the series could not have asked for a better treatment of the series. But as they say, haters will hate.

Recently, the series has received immense hatred from other fandoms. Many claim that the only saving grace ofDemon Slayeris its superb animation. But fans beg to differ. Without the moving plot of the series, is it really possible to make fans leave theaters crying by the end of theMugen Trainmovie?
Demon Slayeris Alleged to be a Hit Solely for Ufotable
Demon Slayerwasbrought to a wider audienceafter season 1 of its name aired in 2019. Thus, an opinion was developed that the series is only popular because ofUfotable’s superior animation. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Dororo is Demon Slayer but actually good. Dororo excutes well on everything Demon slayer fails to do AND is well animated while the only even slightly great part of demon slayer is its animation, everything else is almost offensivly avarage to the point of being really boring.

Demon Slayer is very overrated,it gets carried by good animation but is just a basic story.Attack On Titan is overrated,it has a bad ending which tries to be like Code Geass where Lelouch succeeded in his plans & sacrifice whereas Eren fails miserably. One Piece is not too long
Demon slayer is just boneless Bleach. Both are shows about a teenager that joins an organization dedicated to slaying demons with special swords. If Demon Slayer didn’t get UFOtable as it’s studio, it would’ve flopped cause Tanjiro is a boring protagonist compared to Ichigo

TheDemon Slayermanga debuted in 2016 and has since sold over 150 million copies as of February 2024. It became the bestselling manga in a few years, and the final volume of the series sold above 5 million copies between 2020 and 2021. It even outsold series likeJujutsu KaisenandOne Piece. IfDemon Slayerwas truly popular just for the animation, these record-breaking manga sales could have never been achieved.
Koyoharu Gotouge Underused the One Demon Slayer Character Who Had the Potential to Control Even the Strongest Demon Like a Puppet
Demon Slayeris about family and the bond between siblings as well as comrades. It is a simple story that highlights the most emotional aspects of life. It also fleshes out the camaraderie between the Hashiras to the point that it can make everyone who reads it emotional. But its simplicity isn’t a downfall but rathera plus point for the seriesas a wider range of audience can relate to the story.
Why isDemon Slayerso Popular that People Have to Go Out of Their Way to Hate it?
Once again,Demon Slayerhas a simplistic plot. Thenarrative follows TanjiroKamado, a boy who is orphaned because of a demon’s attack on his family and is only left with a half-demon sister. The struggle to take revenge for his family, as well as well as the gap between good and evil, was captivating to otakus.
JJK and Demon Slayer are only considered “good” because of the sakuga and the anime studios elevating the manga, if they didn’t go as hard it would be more obvious that Gege and Koyoharu aren’t very good writers (tells not shows, plot elements for “shock value”, trope overuse).

Demon Slayer: Despite Being the Second Strongest Female Demon After Nezuko, Nakime has a Surprising Kill Count That Would Disappoint Muzan
Of course, the series also includes plenty of well-developed characters with emotional backgrounds and character development arcs. The cultural appeal of Japanese folklore mixed with modern storytelling is also extremely intriguing. The Western audience was also especially attracted to these pieces of Japanese culture and history.
However, the series isn’t just popular in the West; it has also received enough love and attention in Japan. The series does not have huge twists that exist just for the shock value. The stakes in the series are extremely high, and characters who die don’t just pop up whenever they want. The power system in the series is also extremely clear among the Hashiras as well as the demons. The battle scenes are also extremely detailed, making it an all-rounder franchise.

TheDemon Slayermanga is available to read on Viz Media, and the anime is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
