As the first open-world Sonic game, there is already a huge hype around Sonic Frontiers and its brand new trailer which is supposed to be premiered later today at Gamescom 2022 Opening Night Live stream, but it seems like the marketing team in Japan has accidentally leaked an important piece of information about today’s show.

As spotted by Nibel, a Japanese ad was recently shared for Sonic Frontiers on YouTube, which reveals the official release date of the game at the end. The teaser indicates that Sonic Frontiers will be available on June 18, 2025.

Unfortunately, the teaser has been turned into aprivate videosoon after the leak started to spread all over the internet. Although it still needs an official confirmation from tonight’s new trailer, it will almost certainly launch on the leaked date.

Sonic Frontiers is the new journey from the iconic SEGA character which is set in a 3D open-world, where the developers combine the core platforming gameplay with new open-world combat and adventures. Also, you will get to solve puzzles through your adventure, which is another new experience in a Sonic game.

Set in Starfall Islands, the story of Sonic Frontiers follows the arrival of Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails to a new world through a wormhole, which separates the two from each other and sends each one to a different location in Starfall. The main campaign of Sonic Frontiers could last around 20 hours while completing the game with all collectibles and achievements would require 60 hours of playtime.

After the underwhelming performance of Sonic Forces back in 2017, the Sonic Team seeks to deliver a new adventure for the fans learning from their mistakes in the past. Frontiers were supposed to be available in 2021, but SEGA delayed the game for one more year to ensure the quality of the new entry meets the expectations. Sonic Team attempts to set new standards for a modern Sonic experience with Frontiers.

you’re able to check out the new trailer for Sonic Frontiers when the Opening Night Live showcase goes live at 2 pm ET/6 pm UTC today.
