In a special interview withUnited Press International, Bradley and Kevin Kolde, the producer ofCastlevania: Nocturnetalked about the mixed response to the first season of the series and how they dealt with it. Bradley revealed that the response to the characters of the series in the first season was a little confusing as every fan had a different opinion.

According to the creator, the complexity of the different storylines is what led to confusion among fans about the characters inCastlevania: Nocturne.These storylines even became a challenge for them in the second season.

Kolde revealed that they wanted to exploreeach and every individual storyin the second season of the series so that fans were not disappointed about the fact that some character developments from the first season were left untouched.

While talking about fans’ reaction to thefirst season ofCastlevania: NocturneSeason 1, Bradley revealed that along with their reactions, many fans shared their opinions which were filled with criticism. These opinions could have caused a major shift in the story and this is why the creators decided to ignore them and move forward with their own plan.
What do you do? What you have to do, I think, is stay true to your vision of it and to the logic of the story you’re telling. So, obviously, you’re always aware of how your audiences perceive [what you’re doing] and sometimes that can be painful, but sometimes that’s very rewarding, too.

Bradley pointed out that although ignoring fans’ criticism and staying true to their vision was risky and painful, it also felt rewarding in some way. This way even if the second season had flunked, it would have been on their own accords and not on the opinion of fans.

But contrary to popular belief aboutCastlevania: Nocturneseason 2 failing, the series managed to improve and become better than the first season. It also changed fans’ opinion about the series as they now demand another sequel or spin-off from theCastlevaniafranchise.
