Is Sakurai Hinting At Super Smash Bros. On Nintendo Switch 2?
There are four possible reasons for Sakurai’s tweet. The first is that it’s nothing: he’s worked with closely with Nintendo for years and is excited to learn about the new system. The second is that he hasa game projectthat will be announced, but it’s not Smash Bros. related.
Naturally, fans are leaning towards the other two reasons, one of which is that there could be an updated port of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the works, one with more characters and a wireless mode that isn’t terrible.

The last reason is that there could be a whole newSuper Smash Bros.game in development. This feels less likely, considering that Ultimate isn’t that old and that Sakurai’s time has been occupied with his YouTube channel for the past few years.
The fact that Sakurai has commented at all is making the Super Smash Bros. community excited. While it might be too soon for a whole new entry, there is plenty ofroom to improve Ultimate, either with a port or with a patch that makes the most of the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.
