Former wrestling champion turned Hollywood actor, Dwayne Johnson didn’t always have a happy and happening life. Apparently, the star once struggled with depression and agony after his mother’s suicide attempt. Opening up about his secret battle with the stress, Johnson shared his life story.

According to Dwayne Johnson, who was America’s best-paid actor for two successive years, once struggled with depression as his mother tried to kill herself in front of him. Further, his dreams of becoming a professional football player were shattered, and even his girlfriend broke up with him. Facing severe heartbreak, back to back, Johnson stood strong and made his way out.

Dwayne Johnson Spoke About His Mother’s Attempted Suicide
Although Dwayne Johnson is now one of Hollywood’s renowned stars, his life once hit rock bottom after his mother tried to kill herself in front of him. Recalling the time when he was just 15 years old, and his family was evicted from their apartment, Johnson discussed how his mother attempted suicide.
Speaking withExpress UK, the actor opened up about his days of struggle and agony, when he witnessed his mother trying to give up on her life. Discussing the time, when he constantly cried, Johnson confessed to losing hope and almost willing to give up.

“I reached a point where I didn’t want to do a thing or go anywhere. I was crying constantly.”
The actor then shared about the turn of events that changed him and forced him to take charge at the early age of 15. Recalling his mother’s suicide attempt, Dwayne Johnson stated, “she got out of the car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked into oncoming traffic”. But luckily, the cars swerved out of the way, and Johnson was able to save her.

Dwayne Johnson’s Battle With Depression and Agony
Narrating the story during his interview, Dwayne Johnson mentioned that he successfully “grabbed her and pulled her back on the gravel shoulder of the road”. Saving his mother from killing herself, Johnson explained how the trauma of the event made his mother forget about the incident.
“What’s crazy about that suicide attempt is that to this day, she has no recollection of it whatsoever. Probably best she doesn’t.”

Thereafter,Dwayne Johnson‘s life constantly went downhill, up to the point where his dreams of becoming a professional football player were shattered, and even his girlfriend broke up with him. “That was my absolute worst time,” he shared. But, despite hitting rock bottom and struggling with depression and agony, the actor adamantly changed his life for good.
Had he not found the inner strength to pull back his life, Dwayne Johnson confessed that he might have become suicidal like his mother. But fortunately, nothing as such happened and Johnson went on to rule the wrestling ring before navigating his career to acting, in 2000.
