Invinciblehas become one of the most sought-after animated series. While it is the most recent addition to the world of superheroes, it possesses a sense of uniqueness through its blatant disregard for the audience’s expectations, shocking them at every turn. The best example of this would be the second season, which has fans at the edge of their seats, and for good reason.

The world introduced to them has been slowly crumbling to a concerning degree; dynamics are shifting, the mighty are falling, and lovers are growing apart.

The one relationship that was at the center of the comics was between Mark and Atom Eve. The same was expected with the series, even though Mark had a very prominent love interest in the form of Amber. During the release of the first season, Zazie Beetz, who plays the role of Amber, talked about her thoughts on their relationship, seemingly teasing what was to come in the second season.
Zazie Beetz’s Thoughts on Invincible, Atom Eve, and Amber’s Love Triangle
During a 2021 interview withThe Wrap, Zazie Beetz talked about Mark, Eve, and Amber’s relationship inInvincible. The actress is not unfamiliar with the world of superheroes, having been a part of several projects in the same genre, includingDeadpoolandJoker. One of the most prominent themes of the series is Mark Grayson trying to navigate the life of a superhero as a teenage boy who wants to have normal experiences as well.
” Mark is trying to figure out a way to balance these responsibilities and what his expectations are for who he thinks he’s meant to be and his relationship with his dad, with also just wanting a normal life and be able to date, and how do you square those two things off at the same time.”said Beetz.

While he is fond of his powers, they often cause conflicts between his friends and eventually, with his girlfriend, Amber. Beetz mentioned how Eve is able to understand these complexities to a certain degree. She makes allowances for him that others in his life are unable to, even bonding on this fact.
“I think, with Atom Eve, she can understand him to a degree, potentially, that Amber can’t, just because she doesn’t have that same exact situation, I suppose. But there is an emphasis on the tension within Mark and his coming-of-age into his discovery of self with different people, including Amber and Atom Eve, around him.”She went on.

The actress mentioned how since Amber does not have similar experiences to Mark, she finds it difficult to understand certain parts of his life, which also happen to be some of the most important. Despite this, she thinks their relationship is important for Mark’s character as he understands himself with different people and in different situations.
InvincibleSeason Two Highlights These Conflicts
While the conflict between these three characters could be felt in the first season ofInvincible,it has come to the forefront with thesecond season. Not only have problems started to arise between Mark and Amber, but the romantic tension betweenEveand Mark can no longer be brushed over. Much like what Zazie Beetz said, the pair cannot seem to completely understand each other.
Amber is not accustomed to the superhero lifestyle and that causes a rift between them. It would seem that their romance is set to parallel many teenage relationships. Like most relationships at that time, the pair is not happy with each other. Yet, they are staying together longer than they should. So much so, that fans are getting frustrated at just how out of sync they are.
